Central Powers victory in 1918

Well, from what I read he was there for about 3 months before the war descended upon the world, and then another couple of months before he decided to go home. IIRC he was opposed by two factions, one led by some Greek bishop who may now not be around anymore, and the other by a pasha whom 1918 finds in exile. With Austro-Hungarian troops probably remaining in Montenegro and Serbia for a couple of years, direct intervention by the Habsburgs seems possible, even probable. As he is their client, it seems likely they will try to stabilise him upon the throne, especially as he has not formally abdicated and wants to go back

That seems a reasonable assumption about what the Hapsburgs would do, and is probably how you should go, but it won't work. He will, and I feel I can say this with a great deal of certainty, be assassinated. The only way to prevent that is with a brutal tyrrany, which also won't work. Hey, it makes for good plot points.

Well, true, whether it works or not in the long (or even medium) run is another thing, of course

But if Albania is independent, i.e. it is and...., then you are suggesting an independent Muslim king. This would seem VERY ODD to the Central Powers, I would think. Maybe it is more likely that they would accept it if someone from a ruling dynasty took the position ? In case you think a republic is likely, why then did Eshad pasha want to be king and not president even in OTL when the USA could have backed him, and why did Zogu eventually declare himself king ? It seems the idea of monarchy is really rather ingrained

Britain of course is also quite intriguing. OTL you got a Khaki election called by Lloyd George in victory and returning government backing candidates overwhelmingly. In the ATL he may be able to put it off till 1919, but it will still be a disaster for him now. I can imagine the Liberal wing backing him will vanish, probably also Henderson's Labour wing. In response one would be looking to see whether MacDonald's Labour, Asquith's Liberals, and Bonar Law's Conservatives can manage a workable government between them ? Asquith will be the smallest, but which of the other will be the largest ?
