Considering how close Italy actually came to joining the Central Powers in WW1, I think it's fair to ask how the war would've changed with them in it. Now, it wasn't exactly as if they were extremely powerful- after all, Austria managed against them reasonably well while also fighting Serbia, Russia, and Romania, but one might wonder how the French would've dealt with an Italian invasion of southern France. Could they have dragged enough French and British forces away from the main front to allow the Germans to deal a serious blow in the north? How would the eastern fronts have managed had the Austrians had many more free troops? How would the navies in the Mediterranean attempting to invade the Ottomans have fared with another enemy navy in the mix, and no access into the Adriatic to attack Austria? Italy, for being certainly the weakest, and a close second to Austria as the most incompetent, could have had a major influence on WW1, had they sided with the Central powers.
