Central European countries remain monarchies after WWI

Is there a way for the reaming states or newly emerging ones created in Central Europe after WWI to ether stay or become monarchies?

The German Emperor and the various German Kings lost power.
The Austrian-Hungary collapsed: Austria, Hungary and Czechoslovakia became republics - although there was a long loyalty to the Hapsburgs (perhaps with the exception of Hungary).

So is there a way for the the monarchies to continue existing at least in the form of constitutional monarchies.

What would be required?
Were there some external or internal driving forces for the republics? France? Or the US?

Certainly in Germany all you really need is the Kaiser to abdicate a bit sooner and the German monarchy and all the sub-monarchies would have survived. There was no mass groundswell of republicanism in Germany, there was a state of panic as the loss of the war led to upheaval, which quickly dissapeared. There's a nice story of the recently abdicated King of Saxony departing Dresden into exile and having his train stopped by tens of thousands of his former subjects, not coming to abuse him but to applaud him.

By the early 1920s most of Germany's ex-royals (excluding the Kaiser of course) were back living in their former palaces, being treated in pretty much the same way as they had been before, most were already predominantly figureheads with limited actual power, and were busy negotiating hugely lucrative "redundancy" packages with the former territories they once ruled.
