On the anniversary of Isaac Asimov's death, imagine that Kerensky's Republic had survived to become a modern democratic nation. What would the Foundation Series by celebrated Russian author Isaak Osimov look like?

He would perhaps have lived longer -- or not. Asimov contracted HIV from a 1983 blood transfusion given as part of triple bypass surgery. HIV was not very prevalent in the USSR at that time. On the other hand, would the Russian Asimov even receive triple bypass surgery? Perhaps he would have died earlier, as a result of the underlying heart condition or a medical intervention intended to treat it.
