Cat Stevens doesn't convert to Islam

I think if he had carried on, he would have become a major international 'star'. Who, to compare him with - who have last - Elton John and Van Morrison come to mind.
Maybe, his star may have faded, but there would have been scope for comebacks!
I remember seeing a concert for TV recently, recorded a few decades ago - and what a waste of a talent, not to use it.

You are aware he made a comeback (to music) a few years ago, right?

Oh yes, but that is different to if he had stayed in the music business, and faded from popularity due to changes in musical taste, and then made a comeback.

Its a similar situation to Peter Green - he left Fleetwood Mac, couldn't cope with fame, the drugs, who knows what else. He is back in music - still singing and playing 'blues-rock' - but how would music have been different if he had either stayed, or formed another band shortly after leaving F M.
Perhaps, as some have, I should have started a new thread with the above!?

What about the legal butterflies: IIRC he fought and lost a case to keep his music off the air. The court (again IIRC - I can't find anything about it on t3h int3rw3bz as the Cold Play case has all the Google Juice) basically stated that he as creator does not have sole rights to his work. That's a hell of a freaky precedent!
