Carthage looses the Mercenary War

Could Carthage lose the Mercenary War

What would happen to Carthage if it lost Mercenary war

What would be the impact on Rome

Maybe. I don't know specialized history books dealiing with that, only heard of the novel Salambo.

Rome would be able to pick up the pieces in the western Med, even without fighting.

Rome already profited from the mercenary war by seizing Sardinia and Corsica, she wasn’t interested in expanding beyond Italy, not yet anyway. Rome’s expansion was carried out by necessity more than anything in the times of the Punic Wars. If Carthage actually lost the war, her territory would likely become a federation of city states not too dissimilar from Italy before Roman conquest.

Sicily, Corsica, and Sardinia were all outside Italy.
