Caroline Affair

This is an honest question, and I did look in Canadian History 101 but it's only 1867 on so I couldn't find it.

Could a war be started over the Caroline Affair? If it did could the Americans win?

I think it would be unlikely. The US was busy dealing with the Panic of 1837, so the government was not keen on a war. Britain had a newly-minted queen, a Prime Minister whose motto was "Why not leave it alone?", and was dealing with some rather unruly Canadians at the time.

I guess that makes sense.
