Now, I've actually gotten the inspiration to write up another timeline (though by no means I have forgotten about "The Empire Means Peace" which is on a hiatus...but I digress...
I've taken inspiration from a TL written on the subject some six years ago or so. (Link here: https://www.alternatehistory.com/discussion/showthread.php?t=71339 ) To make a long story short, the PoD focused on Tomas de Zumalacarregui, one of the top Carlist Generals, not dying.
Now I have an idea on how the Spanish government would be run under a Carlist regime, but I want to know is, would keeping Zumalacarregui alive really help to change Carlist fortunes? If not, is there other ways to ensure that Charles V gets the throne? Finally, would he even tolerate a Kingdom in exile in one of the remaining Spanish colonies (most likely Cuba), should Isabella II and her mother, Maria Christina de Borbon flee Spain?
