Capital of a Portugal-Castile Spain?

As we all know, Phillip II of Spain chose to hold court in Madrid, making the city the de facto capital of the country in OTL. Madrid is certainly a nice location for a Castile-Aragon Spain. It has all the major benefits, like being Not-Toledo and centrally located on the Iberian peninsula.

But let's go back a ways, and link up Portugal and Castile in personal union sans Aragon. (I'm ignoring Navarre for now.) Where does the monarch hold court in the long run? Lisbon, Toledo, Seville are presumably large attractive cities in the realm, but the distance (perceived or actual) involved in royalty staying in or choosing Lisbon or Toledo might introduce frictions in the Spanish union over time.

So other than the previous cities in question, where else might the *Spanish court settle down? Something along the Tagus looks to be a nice compromise geographically, and potentially offers good communications between Lisbon and Toledo. Alternatively, Badajoz or Salamanca could be attractive, for similar reasons.

What other options are there?

How about Alcantara? On the map I'm looking at it appears to be pretty much exactly the same distance between both Toledo and Lisbon.

The previous Spanish capital was Valladolid, not Seville or Toledo. And IIRC Madrid was selected as it was viewed to be the most desirable settlement of all those in an area which was "roughly the centre of Spain", with no regard to being near big cities. So applying the same logic to a Castile-Portugal union, I'd make the new capital somewhere a distance due west of Madrid, such as El Mirón.

If Portugal was the senior partner in this union with Castile, one could still make Lisbon the official capital while holding court in one of the main Castilian cities. Or perhaps Seville or even Cadiz could become the seat of government, given their relative proximity near both Portugal and the southern coastline.
