Canada in the US: Maine's future?

Hypothetical here - by some stroke of luck, the US manages to acquire the territories to its north at some point during the Revolution or in the intervening 40 or so years. Assuming the Missouri Compromise is almost certainly butterflied here, what happens with Maine? Is it simply added to some larger New Brunswick/Nova Scotia state, does it stay part of Massachusetts, or does it manage to become its own state still?

I can't think of any reason why Massachusetts would give it up to one of the Maritimes, and it'll probably eventually want to be free of Massachusetts, so...about like OTL I think

If we're including Quebec as well?

It will be its own state. Like Minchandre said, there is no reason for Massachusetts to give up their territory to Nova Scotia or Quebec. It might be a bit smaller, especially with the northern border, but that's not a guarantee of anything. It would still exist on its own; Maine wanted to be independent of Massachusetts; the state wouldn't then turn around and ask to be an extension of another one.
