Canada, Australia, and New Zealand get their own Windsor royal families

At the risk of sounding too blase about whole political systems, personally I think republics are overdone; particularly when it comes to the commonwealth countries. The cadet branch independent monarchy idea is one that hasn't been thought about a lot but logically it's just as plausible for the British Empire to go down that path with the right POD (say Prince Albert never gets tuberculosis so he has a few extra decades to influence British politics - he was in favour of a more active monarchy and imperial federation so the idea for turning the dominions into cadet branch kingdoms could have easily come from him).
 
There was talk a few years ago about making Oscar Peterson the jazz pianist Governor-General of Canada. Now that would have been cool. He declined because of poor health.
