Can Great Britain get a permanent continental territory in Europe that’s larger than 1,000KM (Gibraltar is about 6.7KM, for reference) post 1900? Or is this ASB?

I could see Britain claiming the Dardanelles + Bosphorus along with whats left of Rumelia and the NW corner of Anatolia after WW1. IDK how permanent it would be though; likely itd only be a "temporary" LoN mandate.

Unless you count the suggested Union of France & UK I cant think of much chance for on the continent. Cypress ending up like Gibraltar is best option and thats a stretch.

Britain could push to occupy Northwestern Germany in 1919 while France occupies the West. France will be more than happy with this arrangement while the US can do little more than protest it.

Partition of Germany or Ottoman Empire (Not that much of the latter would qualify as ‘in Europe’) as being the most likely opportunity, but I find it unlikely. I can’t see a major or permanent holding - perhaps a coastal port or island (Bremerhaven or the return of Heligoland) as somewhere to watch over the Germans or on a lease at best - a part of a harsher Versailles, perhaps after an absolute victory over the Germans.

I can’t see the US being too keen and the French would only agree if they had already carved off their own pound of flesh. After 1919, the chances become slimmer still.

In a AANW-like scenario, where Nazi Germany managed to hold longer (and maybe, or maybe not, where Vichy France remained stronger and became a full Axis member). And where the war was longer, bloodier and costlier. Especially if Soviet Union was vanquished and collapsed.

You might get a total dismemberment of Germany, and maybe France. Then, Britain might get Hannover, and/or Calais, and/or Normandy, and/or Britanny.

Of course this scenario is very unlikely but it's a possibility. The other option being after WWI indeed.

Britain has no interest in such, so the first thing youve got to do is change that.
PoD 1800? Yeah, I can imagine. After 1900? Have fun with that.

I can't see it happening. Remember Britain's territory in Europe actually shrank in the first quarter of the 20th Century, even after being on the winning side of the First World War. A Britain that lacks the will to control most of Ireland is not going to stomach holding onto large stretches of the continent in perpetuity.

Something involving the collapse of the Israeli state before the end of the original timeline Six Day War and the United Nations insisting the UK reassume responsibility for the area?
Might require Alien Space Bat intervention though...

Edit:
And not sure if that area counts as Europe or not?

Near East counts as Asia... but of course the whole Europe/Asia distinction is artificial to begin with, physically it's the same continent, but Europeans wanted to put themselves apart from (and above) all the others so...
