Butterfly Effect

What do you think of this idea in AH? The idea that one POD will cause little ripples in the space-time-whatever which will lead to other PODs?

I like this concept of AH - it simply makes it seem more realistic. I mean, an independent CSA, and World Wars I and II occur just as they did but with the addition of the CSA? It's entirely logical for this reason:

A major POD will effect indavidual people, even outside of whatever country the POD is in. Choices made by people MIGHT be different, especially if they grow up in the time after the POD.

I like the concept also but it would be a lot harder to have to predict every thing that happens due to the first POD. That's why most author's don't use it I think. It might make the TL not easily recognisable so there would most likely have to be a massive appendix so you would know who was who and what was what. Or another option it changes the TL so much you can do pretty much whatever you want with it.

I have to say I find it really annoying when there's a POD in say, the Roman Empire, and then in 2008 you have the United States under President George W. Bush complaining about how Emperor Tiberius XI isn't joining in the War on Terror or something.
