Bush 08

Here is a little scenario. What if somehow McCain won the Republican Primaries in 2000, and he chose George W. Bush to be his running mate? How likely is this scenario? Could a McCain Bush ticket win two terms?

Lets say for all intentions sake that they do win two terms, and now G.W. Bush runs in the 08.

Go crazy

A wild, wacky and super-duper improbable scenario.

Really?

How 'bout W. suffers an electoral defeat in his first tilt at the Texas governor's mansion in 1994--just like Jeb in Florida.

Let's say he then get's elected in '98.

He's not running for president in 2000 in this scenario.

John McCain still is.

Who is more plausible than McCain for the nom?

And why isn't the first term governor a plausible running mate to a McCain who isn't his blood enemy like OTL?

BTW, everybody last year was going on about Bush-Clinton-Bush-Clinton, or a-Bush-or-a-Clinton on every ticket since 1980; but I just realised that presidential elections with dynastic political names are the norm in America.

FDR was dynastic

No-one in 1948 was (I think)

Adlai Stevenson was dynastic

Both JFK and Cabot Lodge were

None in '64 or '68

Shriver in '72 was

No-one '76

EVERY ELECTION FROM 1980 TO 2004 HAD BUSHS OR GORES

John McCain is a bit of a question mark--military political dynasties are not acknowledged in thriving liberal democracies.

So a Bush running in 2008 either at the top or the bottom of the ticket was a very good chance if McCain was in office from 2000.
