Busch family in politics

Thinking about the Bush's I think that an alternate history where the Busch family goes into politics would be interesting. Say a POD for one of Adolphous Busche's sons runs for office as a way of trying to stop prohibition. I'm not sure weather they'd be Democrats or Republicans but it would be interesting to see them in politics as rivals to the Bush family.

The only problem is they might be hurt by the anti-German sentiment in WW1.

Wait the Anheuser-Busch Family?

yeah, I just thought of this while watching the Ken Burns series on prohibition and they talked about how they were the "leaders" of the anti-prohibition movement before the eighteenth amendment was enacted.

They're very indirectly involved IOTL, since Cindy McCain is the heiress to that fortune.

Umm...wrong. Cindy McCain's money came from her family owning a beer distributorship called Hensley & Co. Now that company was a distributor of AB beers and her dad was a friend of the August Busch III. She is not a member of the Busch family that ran Anheuser-Busch until it was taken over the the Belgium multi-national InBev. So unless you are using some sort of twisted logic that says people with business relationships are members of the same family you cannot claim Cindy McCain as an heiress to any part of the Busch family.

But back to the OP the Busch family has been active in politics forever. Most of the time they were huge supporters of the Democrat Party political machines that ran the city of Saint Louis and the state of Missouri. The only member of that family that wasn't a big Democrat supporter that I can think of was August Busch III. Even the last Busch (August Busch IV) to run the company was a big support of the Democrat Party. But they don't seem to be interested in holding office.

Just a small correction: that's Democratic Party :)

Are you sure? There website is Democrat.org.

Yes, he's sure, and correct. The website is democrats.org, which makes a substantial difference, as it's the collective noun for the members of the Democratic Party. You'll also note that the organization listed as the contact on democrats.org is the Democratic National Committee, rather than the Democrat National Committee.

It's like calling a member of the Republican Party a Republic.

Whatever floats your boat. It doesn't matter a damn bit to me.
