Burr's War

In the days of the Jefferson Administrations, politician, and at the time Vice President Aaron Burr, had been plotting a conspiracy against the government. He spoke with British agents, and acquired a lease for some land in Texas from the Spanish government. His plan was to go down to Texas, and incite a war between him and his men, and the Spanish in Mexico, and create a new independant nation in the southwest. He had also bargained with the British. If the British would support him with half a million dollars and a British fleet in the Gulf of Mexico, he would have his co-conspirator, James Wilkinson, hand over the Louisiana territory to the British.

If the British had accepted this offer it would have ignited a war between the United States, Great Britain, Spain, and France.

If Burr was successful in gaining the British support, how might this war turn out? What might it be called?

Mabey the Anglo-Franko-Spanish-American War, or possibly just Burr's War.

There are 2 major problems with this TL working, but if they can be overcome I would be very interested in the thread.

1: Burr was not a particularly clever man. Either that, or he was over-trusting. Among the people he let into his scheme, and asked for money, militia, and flatboats, were the Jacksons. They did not particularly advocate treason against the United States (nor did a few other lesser people that he told).

2: Wilkinson double-crossed Burr, and tipped off President Jefferson, who then ordered Burr arrested.
