Burr Conspiracy + Confederacy

I've lurked these forums for awhile now - finally made an account - but I've always wondered: what if the Burr Conspiracy was successful? Assuming he truly was seeking to form his own nation.

Furthermore, what if America's southern states inevitably succeed over the issue of states' rights and slavery? Would a Civil War be avoiding because Aaron Burr was able to secede without violent dispute? And if Aaron Burr's territory was pro-slavery, couldn't his nation and the seceding South overwhelm and overtake the abolitionist North?

Burr could no more succeed in 1805-06 with a half-baked filibuster of a few dozen men than South Carolina could have in 1832 with a few thousand.

As demonstrated repeatedly, in situations ranging from Shay's rebellion to the war with Tripoli to the 1812-15 war, the US was quite capable of raising, deploying, and sustaining substantial forces, including at trans-oceanic distances, that were quite capable of ensuring its policies were enacted and authority was unchallenged.

Best,
