Bulgarian Victory at Catalca?

What would have been the political results of a Bulgarian victory at Catalca? If they had won, the Bulgarians could have very well captured Constantinople, becoming the first Christian army to hold the city since the Byzantines. If the Bulgarians had been able to hold the city it would surely result in a Bulgarian dominance of the Balkans. At least until war broke out again. I think it could result in the Ottomans being far more agressive and certainly revanchist in the Great War, if they didn't attempt to recapture the city sooner.

I think the Russians would have intervened against them, with Greek support. Both states had their own claims on Constantinople, and Russia can force the Bulgarians to retreat. The Russians would either have kept Constantinople for themselves afterwards, or they would have made it a nominally independent puppet city-state.

The Ottomans will likely be pushed out of Europe altogether, which would indeed make them more eager to join the war against Russia. They might even join to begin with, and not require the catalyst of the Goeben and Breslau.

Bulgaria is in a stronger military position subsequently, and may see its Tsar regarded as an emperor rather than a king, but there's no way that Bulgaria would be permitted to keep the city.

This scenario assumes that breaking through the Chatalja line is equivalent to capturing Constantinople, which it's certainly not. Constantinople had strong defenses on its own, very powerful artillery and naval support. Meanwhile, the Bulgarian army has serious logistical problems and was suffering from a cholera epidemic. This means, that even if Bulgarian army won the battle of Chatalja, then it would have fight a similar battle under even more difficult circumstances. And even if the city was captured, it would be very vulnerable to a counterattack, as the Bosporus is so narrow that it would leave Constantinople in artillery range from the Asian side of the strait.
A possible effect of this POD would be a faster Turkish surrender and a stronger Bulgarian army in a possible second Balkan war, though I doubt it would change that much the events of such a war.

I understand that. The idea is that that the high morale after victoryat Catalca results in Bulgarian capture of Constantinople.
