Despite the possibility of the title being misinterpreted, I'll carry on regardless.
If I am not mistaken, European society is one of the few in the world that overall do not incorporate insects as a major part of their diet. People from Europe and North America always seem incredibly disturbed when offered things such as chocolate coated scorpions or roasted grass hoppers. I'm not going to lie to you, I'm one of those Europeans. But one can still be curious as to why.
What would it take for European society to eat insects on a semi-regular basis, either as snacks or as full-blown meals? Would it require a change in society, say going as far back as Rome, or something more major, like the evolution of a viable insect to fill this role?
What do you think?
