Brusilov Offensive Cancelled.

In one of my first timelines back at another site, I had the Russian Empire hitting the Turks at the Caucasus instead of the Austrians at Galizia, managing to pulverize the Ottoman lines, yet the germans were then able to seize Verdun and beat the british at the Somme, while the Austrians continued their offensive at the Alps.

Turkey collapsed earlier, but the Western Powers were forced to surrender (you know, strikes in Britain, mutinies in the french army, socialists protesting in the capitals, the usual...), while Russia managed to survive as a monarchy, barely, but with German help from then on...

Could that scenario have been possible? and If not, what would have happened if there had not been a Brusilov Offensive in the Summer of 1916?

Romania would have remained neutral, for one thing.

February Revolution would be delayed, but it will still happen. An attack won't be planned to replace the Brusilov Offensive. What is more plausible is that the Eastern Front is held, an by March in 1917, with no February Revolution, an offensive is made through the Caucasus against the Turks, which was planned, but upset by the Revolution.

Arab Revolt is in full swing, the British were moving on Baghdad, the Turks could very well get crushed. Russians link up with the British, and after that, its carnage. The Ottoman Empire probably drops out very soon. Which is a great thing, because in OTL, as soon as the first Central Power sued for peace (Bulgaria) the others felt that they did not have a chance for victory.

Still, Verdun has fallen. Ouch. America will probably still declare war, but with Russia still in the game, you might delay it a month or two.

For how long? If it will have not happened by the end of Arpril, the Revolution is not going to happen at all. The joke of the Klio - February Revolution was not something predetermined and its main reason was shortage of food supplies of St. Petersburg. So, late spring would have solved that problem with food supplies growing with new harvests. France despite social cataclisms managed to survive, the same is with Britain...

Revolutionary forces had been boiling in Imperial Russia for nearly one hundred years. Everything about Russia's history to that point was directed towards a radical revolution. The Russian Revolution of 1917 didn't happen as the result of any small event as trivial as a lack of food.

How long is it delayed? Most likely, it will still occur September to December of 1917.
