Brunels Shock Discovery

What if while digging the Box tunnel the workmen had brocken through in to a large clearly artificial cavern. On the walls are frescoes that depict an unknown civilisation. The cavern is full of stone shelves, these shelves contain tens of thousands of clay tablets with a text that looks like linear a. There are also statues, bronze weapons, armour and models of macheinery. When the tablets start to be translated they are found to be the temple library of the city of alta lanier tis. What effect would this have on Britain and the Empire, would the upper classes still look to Greece and Rome for a model of how to run a civilisation. How would the world react to the discovery that Britain is Atlantis.

Imperial German would declare the discovery a hoax, until they could verify it. I imagine the UK would lock down the sight rather quickly.

Shock Find in Great Western Railway Workings
It is reported that an amazing discovery has been made by workers digging the Box tunnel for the new railway line to Bristol. As they were drilling holes for the gunpowder used to excavat the structure the drills broke through into a void. Once an entrance had been made the engineer on site entered the void with a lantern. He later told this reporter that upon entering the void he was amazed to see row after row of stone shelves carved for the living rock of Box Hill. These shelves were carved is such a way as to support the roof of the cavern. The engineer Mr Roberts of Corsham said that the shelves were mostley full of clay tablets simmiler to ones that his Grandfather Professor Roberts of Oxford University had shown him on a visit to him 3 years ago. Also on the shelves were bronze weapons, tools and orniments. There were also well made models of ships, carts, siege engines and what appears to be wind and water driven machienery. Who constructed this store house of knowledge we can only wonder, but who ever they were and what ever thier reasons this was clearly the work of generations.

The Rumor states that the Junk was Cleared away, with the Metal sold to Scrap dealers, and the Railway continued thru the Cavern.
Brunel denies the Rumor, and denies that this is how come the Railway was completed ahead of Schedule.
