Brown dies in air accident

WI the Heathrow incident last week had resulted in Gordon Brown's death:

1) There would be lots of conspiracy theories.

2) Who would succeed?

There would be short and long term issues.

It will take Labour 6-13 weeks to elect a leader. There is no formal Deputy Prime Minister. The deputy leader of the Labour party, Harriet Harman is rather down the list of cabinet ministers but she did win that election.

3) How likely is it that Labour would have sought to exploit sympathy with an early election?

I have no doubt that if Brown came an untimely croper, then Milliband would succeed effortlessly; I'm not sure who would govern in the interim, but I suspect it would be the Lord Chancellor simply based on order of precedence.

An early election is a quite distinct possiblity.
