Brother Faisal: Islamic World ATL

Nah, not the worse case scenario, not at all, just seems.... odd how the Arab nations are all keen on working together under a Saudi King of all people.

Steward of Mecca or no, even I find that unusual.

Alot of people do hate the Saudis but in general I think the Saudis influence is underrated. The Saudi clergy combined with Egypt's Al Azhar would give them a decisive edge and influence over the faithful.

Current Saudi military alliance is actually pretty similar to this. The ground work for this modern alliance was laid by Faisal's son coincidentally:

Oh, I get they'd have a lot of influence, I'm just surprised they're not facing much domestic discontent.

Timturner thanks for all the likes!

Saudis domestic problems seem to have been fine until 1979 with seizure of Grand Mosque and the Iranian Revolution inspiring Shiites in the East. Otherwise things were pretty calm as far as I can remember. Now In this ATL could see some radicals claiming the Caliphate was Illegitimate doing and something similar to the Grand Mosque attack earlier.

Was talking more in other countries, actually. Sauds were fairly modern, up until the Grand Mosque attack.

Also, wonder if we'll see Arab militaries actually not being the butt of every joke in existence now?

That will be a difficult task. The Arabs always had good senior officers and the soldiers are good fighters. From what I've read they their mid level officer are improperly or poorly training leading to OTL performance.
