British Montevideo 1807: Effects?

In 1807 the British had just invaded the River Plate area for the 2nd time and were defeated in Buenos Aires in some fairly gnarly urban warfare; this caused them to withdraw garrisons from OTL Uruguay as well when they left. This decision was why Whitelocke was court-martialled. So WI the British decided to leave OTL Argentina alone but concentrated on retaining Montevideo/ defeating the local attempts to reconquer it? I am going to suppose that it would be unlikely to butterfly the 1808 abdication or Peninsular War but might complicate the relationship with their Spanish allies?

In terms of the Latin American Wars of Independence I could see it encouraging the initial autonomy-based revolts and undermining the Spanish position because they don't have a viable alternative capital in the region to fall back on.
