British Invasion of Spain in 1940-42?

I'm a war gamer who is looking for a new lease of life for my western desert miniatures. So I was wondering wether anyone could help me to find a scenario where Britain, allied with Portugal and eventually with the USA invades Spain and eventually begins a war of attrition in the, Prynnees bringing forward D-Day attacks and the timeline continuing as normal from 1943 (assuming that the war in the desert has much of a slower tempo as the British easily overcome the italians and the Germans cannot help) . Any thoughts?

Spain, as far as I know, is a bit of a difficult one. The Pyrennes are in the way for any advance from there.

Spain is mostly Med country, so any invasion will have to be through the Med. Not a great idea in 1940 or 1941. 1942 is a bit difficult as the US also would like to play.

They were not keen on the African/Italian stretegy. Spain would be even worse as far as I can see.

Also the distance. Fighting from Gibraltar all the way to Berlin is a very long way (this one was sarcasm for which I apologise in advance).

We had a thread about Spanish intervention a while ago, I will try to find it. Anyway, I think the most likely thing is an invasion based on a gibralter crossing, or possibly, if Spain has not subjucated Portugal, an alternate Normandy invasion along the Potuguese coast.

You should look up the Europa scenario "Spanish Torch"

Is an invasion actually needed, could not Franco be induced to side with the Allies through bribery (I'm thinking the Americans offering help with rebuilding their transport network and some other stuff)?

Thanks for the help guys, but the kind of idea I had was a coup by Franco instead of a civil war, Madrid siding with Germany until the Battle of Britain and then changing (Franco is assassinated somewhere along this line), Spain sides with the allies and is overrun in under a month but continues in Guerilla wafare, Britain supports Portugal and there is a fluid war in Spain ,Much like the one in the Desert, ending In a overlord in 1944 against a weaker atlantic wall due to german money going to Spain instead) and the war ends with the British, American and most western allied nations converging on Berlin with the russians still stuck in western poland.(i.e V.e day is 24th Febuary 1945) Anything wrong with this (there is no war in Italy as mussonlini is killed and the ew goverment becomes neutral) anything wrong with this?

It was supposed to be a coup, but the deeply fragmented Spanish society means that the success of that is rather unlikely.

Madrid siding with Germany until the Battle of Britain and then changing (Franco is assassinated somewhere along this line), Spain sides with the allies and is overrun in under a month
How does that happen? Even if Germany can get past the Pyrenees, which is no small feat, the bad Spanish infrastructure and terrain guarantees it's going to be tough slog, unlikely to end in only a month - especially since Germany is at the end of a long and insecure logistics chain.
