British Empire flags for former colonies

For Australia and New Zealand, both their flags have Union Jack's in the canton. My question is, for an alternate South Africa flag, British Guiana, British Cuba, what kind of flag would work that still contains the Union Jack in the corner?

Personally I have always felt that a British Guiana that retains much more link to the United Kingdom might work with a variation on the OTL colony flag - perhaps the Union Jack retained in the corner but a uniform shade of blue with the sailing vessel outside of a crest ?

Honestly you can just have the 1928-1994 flag of South Africa be retained. Barring that, you keep the Red Ensign of South Africa be adopted as the national flag.

The Australian and the NZ flag are the British Blue Ensign with added emblems (both based on the Southern Cross). Many colonial flags were similar, even if some are based on the Red Ensign instead.

Just a few, randomly picked:

As stated the old South African flag had a Union jack on it yeah. Just a little thing called Apartheid made it a political faux pas.

Here's a few I made (or had made for me) for my A Shadow of Fashoda timeline

Where's the flags for the U.S. after the Great Steampunk conquest? Or at least its successor states- the Dominions of New England, Texas, Britannia (formerly Oregon-Washington), and so on?
