Britain keeps Cuba

During the "War of Jenkins ear" Britain captured Cuba, and later Florida which actually attached to their colonies was traded for Cuba, which of course the Spanish got Florida back, only to lose it again to another English speaking country....but maybe the British say No Deal, we like Cuba. What would a British Cuba look like? I imagine something like Quebec, but maybe not the whole island, maybe part of Cuba becomes heavily of the english-speaking. Also would they keep it?

Very interesting... Cuba is large and wealthy enough to warrant a permantent British economic and military presence in the Caribbean, whic can be used to exert influence over Latin America. And of course the Us will not like this. At all :D

I think you are referring to the 7 Years War (1762), not the earlier War of Jenkins Ear.

Problem is that GB only captured Havana, at the cost of most of the Anglo american army of yellow fever. They never took most of Cuba.

The rest of Cuba would be very expensive to pacify. Florida was an equitable trade to get back Havana.

I think this unlikely to happen. Cuba is the jewel of the Spanish Empire and Spain would give a lot to get Cuba back. A hard line from Britain would likely just see a bigger exchange for it, or more war.
