No. Military force was not employed in Travancore. As soon as the plan of the Divan(Minister) to keep Travancore independent was announced, there was a popular movement against it. The State Congress organised protests against the move. The Divan was personally attacked while attending a music concert and was seriously injured. He resigned his post and left the state. The King immediately informed the Government of India that he was ready to join the Indian Union.Travancore was forcibly incorporated also. Unlike Hyderabad the local princely government probably would have had majority popular support in staying independent.
