Britain and America go to war over Oregon?

Is there anyway to spark war there? And if so, who is the likeliest victor?

Difficult to see what would start a war without some serious insanity by someone.

If it did happen then almost certainly a British victory. It has gained a lot of experience from wars in the Crimean, China and the Indian mutiny and has a much larger army. America would have to arm itself pretty quickly and probably wouldn't have the resources to do so.

Its also got overwhelming dominance at sea, which would be especially important in the Pacific as it would be virtually impossible for the US to send forces overland to the Pacific coast. As mentioned in previous discussions a blockade quickly screws with a lot of the US economy and potential military build up.

Not to mention with the argument on slavery coming to a boil will the south be that eager on a war to extend the territory of the north. Or take the opportunity to do a runner to avoid being caught in a war they oppose?

There was some angry rhetoric from Congress, but there's really no impetus for the US to go to war. Due to the continuing influx of American settlers (which quickly outnumbered the British), the region would've ended up as part of the US anyway.
