Breton "Normans" in France

Have France (mostly West Francia) be conquered by Breton speakers, who replace the French speaking nobility with a Breton speaking nobility.

Hard. They essentially need Neustria / West Francia to be centralised enough that they can take over but not enough that their attack fails. The Bretons have a land border afterall.
Perhaps nerf the Normans (as they consistently tried to spread into Brittany OTL) and add a kingdom of Aquitaine?

Avranches was a part of Brittany for a time actually.

Where the Vikings ever strong enough to threaten Paris (or wherever the king at the time ruled from) directly or was it possible for Vikings to be in that position?

Here's a map of Brittany during the reigns of Kings Nominoe, Erispoe and Salomon (845-874) and a few conquests by Alan II Barbetorte (943). They'd conquered part of Anjou as well. Could be a good starting point, what do you think?

Perhaps the Vikings ally themselves with the Bretons to defeat the Franks? And then divide the spoils among them (Vikings get the north of France, Bretons get the southwest)?

Could be a good idea. Logically Salomon allying with the Vikings instead of Charles II would butterfly his murder and if he's succeeded by one of his sons the Kingdom of Brittany won't sink into civil war.

I think the better would be the Visigoths allying with the Bretons...before the Visigoths get kicked from Aquitaine, Visigoths retain Aquitaine, Septimania and Provence and Bretons gain Neustria...

A Breton held Northern France could pull a reconquista of Britain...I think.

True, gaining Neustria would help a lot!
Also, the Bretons can decide to ally with the Vikings to help them expand eastwards rather than westwards, just to secure their own borders.

Yeah, and the Bretons would speak Oil+British Romance in this scenario like what happened to Asturias but it will have Celtic influences.

Maybe the Bretons could be conquered by Norse vikings, who subsequently are Bretonised? Later France is conquered by these Norman Bretons. Just to make the parallel with the Normans of Normandy even more similar.

It would be very interesting!
