Breaking "Old Hickory"

Did the Court ever actually order Jackson to do anything? I thought the dispute was over whether Georgia law was applicable in Cherokee territory.
Difficult to expect the same Congress that passed the Indian Removal Act to impeach and convict Jackson
After the Act was passed the Cherokee Sued, And the Supreme Court found the Removal Act -- Unconstitutional. Jackson ignored the Supremes, and sent the Army in Anyways.

Quoted for truth. The case was argued for the Cherokee by former Solitictor General Ted Sturgeon. Jackson remarked afterwards,"they ruled it now let them try to enforce it" I doubt anyone is going to try to impeach Jackson on Indian Removal, as someone remarked that legislation was duisgustingly popular. But if he can't force a compromise of Nullification then that's a possible impeachment proceeding. Yes, if Nullification goes through than it is legal to nullify but Jackson's failure could mean they bring them anyway. You know just because. Kind of like Clinton getting impeached for a BJ or Johnson for being a War Democrat and not a Radical Republican.
