There is an ongoing thread discussion about Eurocentrism, and it mentions that a lot of us just don't know enough about the basics of history outside North America and Europe. It's very hard to write about, or enjoyable read, specific segments of alternate history in non-Western cultures when you don't have the base knowledge to understand the implications of it all.
I thought I'd create a new thread so people could suggest books for people to get good high-level overviews of history in different regions. Perhaps we could create a site recommended reading list for those getting more interested in history? We could then maybe keep it as a sticky thread.
So far we have one recommendation from Latin America. I'm going to start the list off, and then maybe others could add to it?
