By the end of the first week of September 1940 RAF's Fighter Command was at it's lowest ebb. Fighter strength was typically at 550 ready aircraft for Hurricane and Spitfire squadrons with, by early September, just over 100 aircraft in reserve and 80 aircraft serving in training units. Roughly speaking Fighter Command never dipped below 730 single seat fighters and could probably have dropped by another couple of hundred before operations in the south east of England would have been too seriously affected.

To reach the critical point would mean a rough increase in losses of 15% or would required 5 extra days of heavy fighting (maybe the weather was better than OTL?). Regardless of how critical point is reached what would you expect fighter command to do?Uncontested Area.gif
