New Hampshire Senator Bob Smith tried to run as the Constitution Party's candidate for President, but his catholicism was an issue and he ultimately didn't run.

Considering how the Reform Party nominated Pat Buchanan in 2000, could a Bob Smith - Pat Buchanan Reform Party Ticket have emerged?

Could it have become the right-wing equivalent of Nader?

Only if it bleeds enough votes away from Dubya in the Sunshine State. Otherwise even Buchanan himself wasn’t enough of a difference maker, butterfly ballots notwithstanding.
