119. Bulgaria - Communist
  • Idea: Try forming the Balkan Federation with either Republican Bulgarias (communist or democratic)

Bulgaria, having purged the Macedonian terrorists and ultranationalists, moved towards democracy and reconciliation with neighbors. Claims on territorial expansion were abandoned, and women were granted equal rights domestically. Bulgaria was quickly moving towards a progressive utopia.

Fortunately, neighboring Turkey and Yugoslavia adopted similar world outlooks. Unfortunately, they each wanted leadership of their own grand alliance. The Turks got convinced to join Bulgaria but the Yugoslavs, being far larger, would not be budged, so Bulgaria allowed Yugoslavia to be the leader.

Eventually, Hungary and Czechoslovakia were also converted to socialism and joined the alliance just in time to intervene in the Soviet Civil War, where the White resistance movement re-emerged. After a brutal struggle in southern Russia, the whites were driven out of european Russia, but held all of Siberia past the Urals.

Romania intervened on the side of the Whites, resulting in a Bulgarian counter-invasion to protect their allies. When the Balkan Federation formed, it also managed to include Greece. In the course of the Soviet civil war, many regions attempted to declare independence. The Caucasus, Crimea, and Ukraine were saved but with autonomy, while central asia and Belarus were mercilessly given back to Russia.

Once the main Ural supply centers and defense lines were captured, it was only a matter of time before the Whites would be defeated, so the Balkans demanded Italian territory, which was refused, so the Balkans, with the help of their French allies, invaded. Italy instantly collapsed, which gave the Balkans the idea of uniting not just the region but all of southern and eastern Europe into a South-Eastern European Federation.

Poland was next, allowing the communists to surround Germany on all sides. Germany had gotten fairly dangerous, having brought all the nordic countries into the Axis, as well as the Netherlands and India and Canada.

In order to defend themselves from the Nazi threat, the european socialists pre-emptively invaded Germany, which resulted in the replacement of governments in all former Axis members.

Meanwhile, the US and Australia joined the Chinese-British alliance against Japan. While the Chinese held off the Japanese army, the Americans and British used their naval power to subdue Japan, eventually achieving their surrender. New Zealand had betrayed the Allies to help Japan and had to be occupied as well.

    120. France - Democratic
  • France, after the trials and tribulations of the Republic, decided that the forward would be beyond just conservativism, but backwards to an ideal tradition. Thus, the way was set towards a constitutional monarchy in order to set the house of France in order and forestall Communist uprising and Fascist invasion.

However, the question remained, which monarch to choose? The Bonapartes and Orleanists were out of the question for being infamously tied to even worse historical events that set the Republic forth in the first place. France would have to look deeper into its past. There was still a Bourbon monarchy in Spain that could be returned to the throne of France, but Spain was also currently a republic, one in chaos at that as well!

So, when the Spanish Civil War was at it's peak, France intervened, occupying all of Spain and raising it's once-deposed king to the united crown of France-Spain. Obviously, this move was supposed to have been illegal by the treaty that ended the War of Spanish Succession, but with Austria annexed by Germany and by British assent, the treaty was overturned by a new one.

Although the monarch is the legal head-of-state, democracy takes the reigns, and France-Spain, together with the British, set out to protect liberty from any danger. And dangers were out there.

Both the USA and USSR fell to terrible civil wars the brought forth oppressive tyrannies, even worse than Stalin, as hard as that might be imagine!
Though in China, the civil anarchy was cut mercifully short when the KMT was suddenly and bloodlessly overthrown by the CPC, and the rest of the autonomous regions joined the United Front to resist the Japanese invasion.

Germany, having secured alliances with various fascist governments in Europe, the Near East, and Latin America, launched their invasion, starting with Poland. Although Poland was quickly overrun, Southern Europe resisted, and Russia proved to be bottomless hole for Germany to loose armies in.

Once Germany was distracted on multiple fronts, France advanced, and installed rehabilitational governments in the defeated enemies. The Netherlands ended up requiring an intervention as well, resulting in the Union of West Europe or "UweU" for short.

Against the British-UweU Entente is a fascist Japanese-American alliance, which is friendly with the Russian Empire.

    121. Soviet Union - Communist
  • screen cap 2.png

One of the rare times that I actually get to do a historical Stalin run! Today we will be doing something a bit special and meme-ey

    screen cap 3.png

    That's right! Heavy Tank Only!

I tried a few test runs and basically, having pure tanks in a division means the HP and organization will always be too low, resulting in divisions being wiped out by sustained combat even if they are stronger on paper than anything they go against. So I allow myself to add a mechanized brigade to the tank division just to prevent that outcome.

However, the USSR only start with Great War tanks, and no Heavies, so what does that mean for our starting army?

    screen cap 4.png

Yep its into the trash bin you go! We are going pure heavies! Ideally we would do pure super-heavies, but that's a late-game tech so I doubt our enemies will last long enough to be crushed under the mighty treads of Papa Stalin's Monster Tanks!

    screen cap 1.png

    They didn't last.

Germany failed to get the Sudetenland, so the Soviets used to opportunity to invade Poland while everyone else was distracted, and then through Poland, the Soviet tanks drove on from Warsaw to Berlin!

After that, we helped China fight off the Manchus and the Nationalists. Since the Japanese and Americans turned socialist by themselves, and the British decolonized, there are no major threats to Soviet Hegemony.

Except for those annoying Mexicans who successfully hosted Trotsky and protected him from assassins more times than Stalin cares to admit!

It's still only 1942, so we could put our army to the test by kicking everyone out of our alliance and invading rest of the world. But now that Super-Heavy monster tank production is under full swing, it's pretty obvious how the decisive battle will go...

    122. Mongolia - Neutral/Monarchist
  • What about Mongolia then? (ideally Kaiserreich... Ungern-Sternberg!)
Alright, after a long long break I'm getting back into mods, starting with KR.

I think I might do one or two more of TNO. I think I'll focus on USA and then maybe I'll think about a russia-centric one, since that by far got the most votes.

And back to your regularly scheduled programming:

Ungern-Sternberg seized absolute control over Mongolia. Having sidelined the monarchy, he set out to crush the western rebels. After a short military buildup, Mongolia swiftly invaded the San Ma, liberating territory inhabited my ethnic mongols, which greatly expanded the ability of the Mongol state to recruit manpower for the still undersized army, compared to the other chinese factions.

The cavalry tactics that Mongolia used consisted of delaying pinning attacks from some divisions, while the others exploited breakthroughs in the lines to rush forward deep into enemy territory. Being able to live off the land gave mongol divisions no supply lines to worry about, so their movement speed and resistance to attrition were superb. By operationally outmaneuvering the slow chinese infantry, Mongolia quickly conquered all of San Ma.

Next on the menu was Sinkiang, which had just been conquered by the Kumul Khanate. They also attempted a cavalry-mobile style of warfare, but having themselves just come out of war, they were less well equipped and overrun by superior Mongol numbers.

Having acquired new territories, population, and industry, Mongolia set out to expand the army further, reaching the size of two army corps, requiring two generals to manage, with Generalissimo Unger-Sternberg himself serving as supreme commander in the field.

The economy was improving radically despite the betrayal of Russia, who pulled out investment to focus on their domestic issues in Western Russia, where the risk of syndicalist revolution was brewing.

Meanwhile, Chinese warlords had mostly united under the leadership of a Left-wing KMT, which after defeating the Beijing garrison, began to fight with the Manchurian Fengtian group, the last large group that hadn't unified with the southern government.

Mongolia planned on exploiting Manchuria's war with the southerners in order to easily invade.

However, just as the divisions had positioned themselves on the Manchu border, Russia declared war! It was a total surprise and the army was completely out of position, having committed to attacking in the East, instead of the North and West.

So quickly, the army repositioned to face the Russians. Luckily Mongolia was saved by Russian incompetence, as despite having an army that outnumbered Mongolia 4 to 1, the Russians had failed to communicate their orders and plans, thus the Russian siberian divisions was also far from the border and not ready for a coordinated attack.

Mongolia's units repositioned quicker than the Russians and launched an immediate counter-attack, capturing key junctions of the trans-siberian railway. Despite being heavily outnumbered, the Mongols used their cavalry to speed around the Russians, creating pockets of soldiers who easily surrendered. By repeating the cycle of breakthrough-encircle-liquidate, Mongolia destroyed most of the Russian army by the time they finished crossing Central Asia.

Crossing the Urals was less of an epic struggle, and more of an impatient jog across the the Russian landscape on the way to Moscow and Petrograd, which finally caused the Russians to surrender. Ungern-Sternberg did not trust the failed Russian leaders with any level of self-government and instead chose to fully integrate Russia into the New Mongol Empire.

Also, Ungern-Sternberg had initially been highly statocratic in his worldview, but with the needs of war and building up the Mongol army and state, very meritocratic methods were used, and radical ethnic equality measures were enacted in order to convince the majority non-Mongol population to accept their place in a Mongol empire.

The army swung back east across the Urals and Siberia to finish off Manchuria, though Beijing fell back into the hands of the KMT. With the surrender of the Manchus, Mongol divisions simply starting recruiting them and kept marching, this time blasting their way across Chinese divisions, who melted under the unexpectedly high fire concentrations that the Mongol army produced.

All looked to be going smoothly, then the Mongols captured Nanjing, it should have been a moment of crowning triumph but instead marked a new dangerous turn: Foreign Intervention.

Japan, growing jealous over the Mongol takeover of China despite their own failure to usurp control of the Legation Cities, lead to Japan declaring war on Mongolia.

Mongolia, using some captured Russian naval vessels, was able to park a small fleet right at the tartar strait that separated Sakhalin island from the mainland. However, the Mongols could not challenge the naval superiority of Japan anywhere else, so after overrunning Sakhalin and Korea, most of the Mongol army would be relegated to passive coastal garrison duty to prevent Japanese amphibious landings.

The rest of the Mongol army kept moving south, into Tibet, Siam, and Indochina. The Mongol overspill of the Siam war into Vietnam prompted Germany and its Reichspakt to declare war on Mongolia, especially since Mongolia was threatening to seize the Chinese port cities.

However, again the declaration of war took Mongolia by surprise and there was a great rush for the Mongol divisions to take the long train ride to Moscow before Baltic divisions could overrun too much of Russia.

As for the state of the rest of the world, the Entente had already long been at war with the Internationale, mostly fighting over Latin America, since French Africa was liberated too soon for Entente intervention. Then, trouble in Switzerland, Italy, and Belgium resulting the Internationale also being at war with the Reichspakt. The Internationale was stymied in Trench Warfare in Europe, but was able to save most of the rest of Africa was Goering's horrifying excesses.

Mongolia swiftly defeated the Germans and their allies in the East, and to secure their flanks, destroyed the rotting Austrian Empire once and for all. The Hungarians, grateful for their liberation, joined the Mongols and as a reward for their great cooperation were allowed a semi-independent buffer state to separate the Mongol Empire from the Internationale. The same was done in the south with the Bulgarians.

Having successfully combined Russia and China into a new super-empire, and defended it on all fronts from several great powers, Mongolia had a free hand to use its now enormous army to subdue the rest of Asia. This would put Mongolia into conflict with the Entente, which was still protecting India, which meant that despite their great differences in social outlook, the Internationale and Mongolia were strategic partners and would stay peaceful with each other.

The Entente failed to liberate Central America and Indonesia, but manage to hold on to Cuba and Venezuela, despite the Entente's naval blockades.

Japan, having lost all mainland holdings and even being forced to give back Hawaii to the USA, is now part of the Entente.

The USA avoided a syndicalist civil war by promising social democratic reforms to the economy, but then had to fight a civil war against the South under Huey Long anyway and ended up reneging on the deal, instead becoming Liberal like Canada. The USA is not yet officially part of the Entente, but is very much aligned with them and provides substantial support to global effort against the syndicalists. With hostilities settling into a simmer now that major land warfare has ended, the USA will be more free to openly join the Western side of the Cold War against Europe.

Mongolia, being anti-democratic and anti-socialist endeavors to simply exist as a neutral bloc that happens to be sitting on most of Humanity while the peripheral nations around the World Island continue their pointless conflict.

    123. United Kingdom - Democratic
  • So, after taking a closer look at mods, I finally realized that kaiserrdux is actually kaiserreich but with extra alternate history paths, which sounds interesting since one of the things I don't like about certain mods is railroading. Like Darkest Hour seems to have a lot of depth, but not enough width as it focuses on the purely historical stuff. So I was debating trying Darkest Hour and ended up deciding on trying kdux instead.

Starting as the Union of Britain, the Totalists wining the elections, propelling Mosley into power. He tightens his grip on various government ministries, even going as far as to establish the Ministry of Truth. Most of the British public is horrified that what supposed to be a path towards securing their liberation has turned into a machine of dystopian oppression. Luckily, the armed forces, which were still organized in decentralized militias, had not been thoroughly purged by Mosley, and so some officers were able to organize a revolutionary coup that deposed Mosley and after a brief provisional military government, the people elected the moderate socialist Atlee to be the president of the new British Republic.

However, the instability had prevented Britain from participating in the Internationale, so when the French Commune ended up at war with both the Entente and Reichspakt, they were slowly but surely ground down on various fronts.

The Nationalist French failed their attempt to return to the mainland, and instead it was the Germans who established their own regime. There was a debate in Germany over whether or not to partition France, but it seems they decided that a partition would just give ammunition to French nationalists who might argue the need to betray Germany to reunite with the pro-Entente faction instead. So Brittany alone was given autonomy, and the rest of France remained untouched.

Meanwhile, the rest of the Internationale had collapsed, resulting in an Italian unification and subjugation of Portugal to Germany. Also, Bharat went their own way and united the subcontinent.

In America, the CSA won the war and eventually chose to invade Canada and Mexico. They quickly defeated Mexico but stalled out on the Canadian border. This was a great opportunity for the British to re-unite the Commonwealth and bring the royalist dominions back into the fold of London, but with new republican governments...

So while Canada was distracted, the British invaded. The British then went on the take Australia and Nationalist France, ending the Entente.

Fearing a possible war with Germany, the British greatly expanded the army but couldn't secure the resources they needed, so also invaded the Netherlands. This allowed the British to control Indonesia as well has establish a front-line on the mainland without having to naval invade past the German fleet, which was still potentially larger than the British fleet.

However, German politics mellowed out and they are a relatively healthy democracy, if still a very conservative one. The Russian Republic is the most ideologically similar.

However, the big surprise was the CSA invasion of Canada!

The Americans accused the British of having betrayed Syndicalism by being merely social-democrat. The British defeated the Americans and Mexicans, and also re-integrated South Africa to finally form the Commonwealth of Socialist Republics, a confederation of Anglophone nations.

In the rest of the world, the Austrian Empire was destroyed by Italy, Hungary and Serbia, then Serbia and Romania partitioned Hungary.

China is nearly re-unified by the Beijing-based Zhili clique. Japan lost its pseudo-war against the German colonies, resulting in its ally Siam being occupied.

The Legation cities in China, having rejected both German and Japanese influence are now solely under the protection of the British.

    124. New Zealand - Democratic
  • Just doing a near-historical setup to test some new auxiliary mods such as the infantry equipment designer.

Britain invests in peaceful global economic development, by granting autonomy to the colonies, which become commonwealth dominions. Of the dominions, New Zealand's economic rise is particularly pronounced, investing in nearby Pacific islands and Australia. Their success convinces the British to turn over their Pacific colonies to New Zealand custodianship.

In the USSR, Trotsky quickly overthrows Stalin. While in Germany, Hitler is overthrown by Nazi plotters who sign a real alliance with the Soviets instead of preparing to invade the East. This alarms all European countries. The democracies join the Allies, while the Eastern and Southern European countries join Italy's Falangist faction.

Germany attacks Bohemia, triggering the war between the super-alliances. At first, the USA is leaning towards helping the Allies, but can't contribute due to a civil war that results in the socialists taking power, aligning themselves with the Soviets.

The Fascist alliance defeats the Communists in Europe while the Allies are bogged down defending France and the Low Countries from mainland invasion by the fascist powers.

After years of squeezing the entire population into recruitment, New Zealand has accumulated enough soldiers and weapons to form an invasion army to break the stalemate in Europe. It starts with a naval invasion of Portugal, capitulating Iberia to open up the straight of Gibraltar. From there, an invasion of Sicily and the rest of Italy takes the fascist leader out of the war, but instead of capitulating, they form a government in exile and their army fights on alongside their allies!

So New Zealand is forced to spend the next two years slogging through the Balkans, Turkey, and eventually Poland to grind down the fascists. Luckily, the allies were not totally incompetent and managed to take down Iran and Argentina without the need for New Zealand intervention.

Along the way, New Zealand was granted control of French, Australian, and Japanese islands. Plus, New Zealand also took control of Hawaii and the American Pacific after their civil war. This allowed New Zealand to form the Pacific Federation, incorporating all Polynesian populations into the country.

Japan, having successfully taken their quarter of Russia during the downfall of the Soviets, believed they could take on the Allies while they were distracted in Europe, so they invaded Southeast Asia.

The Allied navies managed to prevent Japan from expanding beyond Indonesia, but Australia was threatened, in response Australia agreed to join the Federation with New Zealand and together, New Zealand's assembled navy (home-designer Super Destroyers with captured Italian Battleships and Cruisers) managed to use their now veteran marine invasion forces to take back control of the islands.

The Philippines were liberated just as Japanese forces were forced to pull out of Tibet and Vietnam.

Now that the Allies have nuclear technology, it will be easy to convince the Japanese to back down. However, the Allies can't afford to invade and occupy China even if Japan agreed to settle for peace, since the hostile socialist Americans are growing stronger and poised to completely control their hemisphere.

    125. Soviet Union - Communist
  • KR as Liberal Egypt. Make game rules provide for Savinkovist Russia, Velvet Glove America, Manchu Restoration Qing, NatPop Japan, and Totalist 3I as well.
Already did liberal constitutional monarchy as Egypt #59

Try playing as Mladorossi (Totalist) Transamur in Kaiserredux.

What about Eurasian Soviet Republic in Kaiserredux?

The most interesting event in Europe was the dramatic collapse of the Reichspakt amidst the economic, political, and military crises that resulted in the German Revolution.

The Russian Republic went and asked for the Romanovs to return, crowning a false tsar. But in the East, a coalition of Liberals and Socialists toppled the pro-Japanese authoritarian government and installed the Mladorossi totalists, who collaborated with radical Russian nationalists to crown their own communist monarchy.

The remnants of the old military were disbanded and entirely replaced with new Cossack formations. They swept over Mongolia and parts of Siberia until the Petrograd regime finally officially declared war to put an end to the encroachments of Transamur. However, their foot infantry were slow and not well equipped for the harsh weather conditions of Siberia. The Cossack style mobile cavalry army completely outmaneuvered and destroyed the usurpers. Once Transarmur captured Moscow, Russia was restored!

From there, Russia set out to take control over its "natural boundaries", resulting in a cascade of wars across Eurasia. The astounding success and speed of the conquests is due to the large degree of in-fighting among the targeted regions, who were just finishing up wars that had bled the lands white right before the Russians arrive to steamroll whoever survived. The Austrians had just finished beating down a huge Hungarian rebellion. The Turks, Arabs, and Persians all just finished a large war. The conquest of India was facilitated by a great religious war that started in Nepal but covered the whole Gangetic plain, which ended up killing nearly a million Indian soldiers. The cult leader who had declared himself a god was defeated by the time that Russian units started setting up their formations on the borders of Afghanistan. And of course, in China the chaotic civil war meant the United Front only formed just too late to turn back the Russian-Japanese invasion.

After the Chinese conquest, Russia avoided war with the Japanese by cutting a deal with access to port cities, in addition to the Legation Cities. This compromise was necessary since Russia had no navy outside of what they had captured from vanquished enemies, and most of that had been transferred to the Mediterranean to assist in the downfall of Sicily.

As for the rest of the world, with Germany part of the Internationale, they also had support from revolutionaries in Australasia, Indonesia, VietNam, and some Latin Americans to defeat the Entente.

Germany has consolidated its control in Africa and Asia, but has no real way to return to Europe.

    126. Hungary - Fascist
  • So, these two posts today, along with the others posted recently are from games played over the last few weekends.

In not a single game did I use line infantry. "What?!" You may ask. "A WW2 game without infantry divisions?"

That is because there is no point in using infantry when you have access to cavalry! This post is a summary on the overpoweredness of Cavalry divisions compared to regular infantry division.

Main differences between infantry and cavalry:

cavalry and infantry have basically identical base combat stats. Cavalry require ~20% more industrial upkeep, but have ~50% higher movement speed.
Many people hold the mistaken belief that infantry are better than cavalry because technology benefits infantry more than cavalry. This is technically true, but far less relevant than people realize, and ignore how Commander Experience benefits Cavalry much more than infantry.

Basic industrial and weapons techs benefit infantry and cavalry the same. The difference is in land doctrine technologies. These technologies are found in four mutually exclusive paths that may be chosen.
Mobile Warfare has the largest numerical benefits, but only if you have the industry to be using tanks or full motorization.
Superior Firepower gives flat attack bonuses to all combat divisions, thus does not favor infantry over cavalry, but mostly benefits artillery, which are best used with either foot infantry divisions or motorized divisions. Artillery gives you the biggest bang for your buck and is good for focusing on the attack power of your army, but if you don't have the industry for motorization, you will be outmaneuvered.
Grand Battleplan. No one uses this. It sucks. It's good at defending, but that's no fun and no one wins the big important wars by just holding trenches forever.
    And finally...
Mass Assault. This is one is my favorite. If you compare doctrines based on hard stat bonuses, this one looks like it sucks... but appearances are deceiving! If offers huge reductions to supply weight, which means you can have more frontline divisions on your front lines without suffering penalties. Also, the reduction in combat width means you can stuff more front line brigades into the same combat. This is a passive increase to your division stats by +20%, since having 20% more brigades means 20% more attack, breakthrough, HP, etc. Though you will burn through more manpower, but conveniently there is a recruitable population bonus there to cover that!

But wait! you haven't mentioned how each doctrine gives huge organization bonuses to infantry! All combat revolved around organization, so more must be better, right?
WRONG. When org reaches 0, combat ends, but once your units have a minimum of 30-40 org, then they will be fine. On paper, two divisions that are identical in every way do battle except one has 40 org and the other 60 org, the one with 40 org will lose and be forced to retreat from the 60 org one. But in reality, it's never a clear fair 1 v 1, instead its entire armies of divisions each moving on their own around the terrain.

If you have a position you must hold and defend, such as a port against naval invasion, then you want a division that will have as much org and defense as possible so that is it never forced to retreat. But on the attack, you can just cycle units, and the attack/breakthrough stats matter way more than org since either you win the battle quickly, or even if you de-org and back off, units just take a few hours to recover org and try again! So having more org doesn't really matter, beefing up the other stats is much more important, which is why the deadliest divisions are tank divisions that stack attack and keep org in that 30-40 range, just enough that they won't de-org just by driving around.

    And speaking of combat stats...

Commanders confer stats based on traits that they pick up through education or field experience.

Infantry divisions benefit from infantry leader traits, but Cavalry and Motorized are also technically infantry and also benefit from the infantry leader traits as well as their own mobile leader traits.

The Cavalry +10% defense is massive, since defense stat increases also affect breakthrough, not just defense. I don't know if this is just a tooltip oversight or if this game knowledge is hidden by the devs on purpose as a secret, but it isn't obvious unless you test it.

Add on top of that some countries get to have cavalry-specific spirits, advisors, ideas, etc and those end up being usually more powerful than the ideas that add bonuses to infantry, and you have a recipe for horse-riding supersoldiers.

Finally, combat bonuses aside, the sheer advantage in movement speed allows cavalry to more easily exploit gaps and breakthroughs in the frontlines, overrunning and cutting off slower infantry, especially if they are slowed by poor supply and enemy air superiority. Encirclements are a huge victory multiplier because instead of pushing a unit back where it can regroup and resist again, by completely destroying it, you now leave an even larger gap in enemy defenses that will not be plugged back in, plus your units who finish off entire enemy divisions get huge XP payouts, multiple times larger than the general XP earned in combat and this veterancy not only improves division performance, but adds to the Commander XP, boosting the whole army.

Anyway, here's the map of my most recent cavalry-only campaign.

Played as Hungary. Quickly annexed Austria before Germany could get their grubby hands on them. Then when Romania refused to give Transylvania, I declared war on them, which Czechoslovakia joined. Fighting on two fronts was hard, but Germany invited me into the Axis which helped. Italy became Papist, so that was easy to take out, the rest of the Balkans fell like dominos.

However, I didn't rest on my laurels since Germany was having a hard time doing their Western Front, since the war did start early in 38 instead of later when they'd be ready, so I had to do France for them. They set up Vichy France, which was convenient. We did a sweep through the Middle East to India, which was annoying since Turkey chose the Ottomans path but then joined the Allies instead of Axis! But after that, we had enough coastline to build a huge number of docks, which built us a huge number of basic destroyer ships we licensed from Germany instead of researching ourselves.

Once we had some 200 ships, we started harassing the British navy around the channel. At first, our engagements were cautious, only trading a few destroyers each at a time. But once we had built another 200 more, and the US joined the Allies, it was time to put on the pressure. We pulled back all our fleets from around the British isles and focused on controlling the Channel. After sinking a few cruisers, we managed to push the British fleet out, and were able to execute a Sealion.

The Americans are hosting the european exiles. Meanwhile, Russia turned democratic with the help of Japan and African Anarchy has taken over most of the colonies, supported by the Ethiopian Soviets.

    Kaiserredux: Makhnovist France

Alright, this should be my last communist France for a while, since I've played some form of communist France more times than I've played most other countries, including non-communist France.

Anyway, just did a quick pacifist run at first, doing industry and producing tanks quietly, even after the anarchists took over. I waited until Germany and the Entente declared war. Once that happened, my tanks instantly broke through the defenses and the entire German army plus most of the rest of the Reichpakt's armies were trapped in a massive pocket between Belgium and the Rhine. After that single crushing blow, overrunning the rest of Europe was cake.

Along the way I made a fleet of ~20-40 all-purpose light cruisers that paired with the old starting fleet and whatever I captured, I was able to sink the entire Entente fleet when it got trapped in the Mediterranean after I captured Gibraltar.

Rest of the world is looking very pink democracy, except Asia and Argentina, and even the Ottomans liberalized.
But then, Afghanistan managed to form a new Islamic India a la Mughals or something.

  • Play Kaiserreich as the American Union State, then once you defeat the other factions, go down the Pelley route, conquer all of North America, grab some allies, and take over the world.

    Here's a great idea
Go on Kaiserredux, play as the American Union State, go down the New Gunpowder Plot, and install the Stuarts on the throne. Form the Holy Alliance with Portugal(if you can), then conquer the godless Syndies in London, then the world. Bonus points if you retake some of the colonies.

Started with Huey Long but transitioned into the catholic monarchy.

This is the first modded game I played that actually saw Germany win over an alliance that included Russia.

But let's begin from the start:

The USA quickly descends into civil war, with the Union state quickly defeating the South and recruiting the old democrats into the America First Party, however the radical christians are gaining a lot of influence. Papist elements joined Huey Long, and once the rival factions in the civil war were defeated, some of the Christians wanted to purge the Catholics, but the purge backfired and instead the catholic allies in the America First Party created a new coalition of Integralist Christians with the Catholics leading.

This Integralist America quickly conquered Canada and declared itself as the Kingdom of America, and invited the Jacobite faction of British royalty to serve as the monarchy for the Kingdom of America.

At this point, the German-Internationale war was nearing to a close, with the collapse of France, the naval defeats of the British, and the failure of the Russians to protect Soviet Ukraine. Things were also going well for the Germans in Asia, where the Japanese navy had been defeated, with their ally Thailand occupied.

The Americans took advantage of this to declare war on Japan to recover the island bases and Philippines that the Japanese had stolen during the Civil War when the Americans were unable to intervene.

The Dutch, who had not yet joined the Reichspakt, began a border incident in Guyana. In Reprisal, the Americans seized all of the Dutch caribbean, and used the Philippines to stage an invasion of the Dutch East Indies, creating the new American colony of Indonesia.

The Dutch surrendered the colonies and then thereafter submitted to German "protection".

The Americans gathered their fleets, and joined the Germans in the invasion of Britain. The Germans went from the South and West, with the help of their Irish allies and were able to secure Wales and South England. The Americans landed in Scotland and moved down conquering all the way to London.

With the capitulation of London, the war was over. Portugal, which was upset that Germany did not return the African colonies which had placed themselves under Middleafrican protection during the war "for safekeeping" turned their backs on the Reichspakt and instead joined the Americans.

Having recovered England and Scotland, America declared the restoration of the Holy Britannian Empire.

London is split between Britannian Northern Bank of the Thames, and the German-occupied Southern Bank. Wales and Cornwall, formerly part of Great Britain, have been split off as parts of Britanny instead.

The war in Western Europe was over, though the Russians were still far from capitulation, but the Britannians could now turn their full attention to Japan. Staging an overwhelming naval landing, using dozens of battleships and hundreds of long-range bomber aircraft to provide support, Japanese resistance quickly crumbled.

The Chinese territories occupied by Japan became the Beijing Clique, with the Manchus becoming a puppet to the Russian Far East, which turned its allegiance from Japan to the Britannians and opened a new front against the Reds as allies to avoid a hostile occupation.

In China, the north/western half of the country was dominated by the Anhui, while the South and East remained fractured. After border clashes with Manchuria, Beijing convinced the other warlords to join the Southern Federalists and together they crushed Anhui and mostly peacefully reunited the rest of China into a decentralized federation.

Russia, having lost Moscow and Siberia, settled into a bitter peace by fortifying itself at the Urals. The world war was over.

The world is now in a cold war, with Britannia on one side and Germany on the other. However, Germany is not very concerned, seeing that they dominate Europe and Africa and large parts of South America and Asia. Also, most neutral countries are democracies that would rather cooperate with Germany than the totalitarian Britannians.

The world situation. We can clearly see Germany, with its Inner Reichspakt, Outer Reichspakt, Reichspakt-aligned democratic powers, including the "Liberal Caliphate". For Muslims, it is clear that Democratic Islam is the way forward!

    129. Galicia - Neutral/Monarchist
  • I’d like to see you use the Releasable States Fixed mod (you’ll probably have to roll back the game to an earlier version).

I’d like to see you release Galicia from Poland, and then puppet the whole of Europe without annexing a single inch of land.

Instead of releasable states, I just played KR again since it has Galicia as a default country.

First order to business is to become as autonomous as possible, though it is still impossible to leave the Austrian alliance. Luckily, the Hungarian revolution takes place, which allows Galicia to occupy Hungary, creating it and Slovakia, and Transylvania as loyal puppets.

When the Austrians collapsed their own alliance, this was the opportunity that Galicia needed to invade and occupy the rest of the former Austrian Empire. From there, Galicia turned to Italy, then the Balkans. Once Germany got into the second world war against the syndicalist west and Russian Empire in the east, Galicia lined the empty southern border with infantry and suddenly invaded, handily capturing Germany and turning Prussia into a loyal puppet while France occupied the Rhineland.

Then, Galicia's army had trained enough men to rival the size of the Russian army, so Russia was invaded, created another multitude of loyal puppets.

Finally, Galicia turned west to fight both the Internationale, and the Entente since it also had some countries resisting the Internationale such as Belgium, Southern Italy, and Portugal.

However, with mainland Europe cleaned up, Galicia was not interested in the wider world war and sat back, allowing it to play out.

The British, despite having lost their main ally France, were able to fight off the Entente, destroying its navy. They, with the help of Egypt, liberated Africa and carried out a successfully invasion of Canada while the Americans were still distracted by their own civil war, which eventually Huey Long's Union State would win, though he would be replaced by a moderate as soon as the first election took place.

The Entente also lost in Asia against the Bharatiya Commune, which itself was then conquered by the Princely Federation, which united India under a federal monarchy.

In Asia, Japan picked up the pieces of the fallen German Empire, attempted to invade China but was repulsed by the Chinese United Front, which also included Vietnam Due to Thailand's involvement.

Once the wars were over, the Chinese United Front immediately fell apart and the Chinese Civil War resumed, with the Qing authority in the North against the democratic federalists in the South.

    130. Spain - Fascist
  • NatPop Carles rampage in Kaiserreich

    Kaiserredux- Carlist Spain

    I am joining this request

The shocks of the German financial crisis increased the present fissures in Spanish society. The King, in an attempt to restore faith in the government, invited the Carlist pretenders to discussions to present a united monarchist front before the people. However, this strategy backfired and the people instead demanded the replacement of the king by one of the pretenders who might do the job better. With the ascension of the new king, radical national integralist thought began influencing the government, and Spain came closer and closer to forming an Organic Monarchy.

Meanwhile, Germany had collapsed, and although the SPD-led rebellion was crushed by force of arms, the four principal regions of Germany ended up being controlled by different cliques, in the North, the Syndicalists established a stronghold, in the West, Democratic reformers, in the South Ultranationalists, and in the East the remnants of the imperial government formed Prussia.

Canada, knowing that it could not rely on Germany to help defeat the Internationale for the reclamation of its homeland, instead turned to America. Their strategy was to support the rightful US federal government, which happened to have the most well-aligned ideology, and directly intervene to defeat the other civil war factions.

Spain, and also Portugal, in order to gain a foothold in the Americas and reconquer the Empire, joined the Entente and helped the US government in the civil war, which in return repealed the Monroe Act, allowing Spain and Portugal to recover their territories.

Both Spain and Portugal used their integralist policies to incorporate the American populations into their country not as colonies but as provinces.

The Internationale hadn't been inactive either. They nearly got MiddleAfrica to collapse, though Goering somehow mostly pulled it back together. They got India united under Gandhi, and they conquered a path through Switzerland, South Germany, Austria to Hungary, all to connect with friendly regimes in the East, though Hungary would have a Liberal counter-revolution and would drop out of the Internationale.

Czechia, Serbia, and Romania all developed ultranationalist positions and in the case of Czechoslovakia and Yugoslavia, managed to succeed in uniting their pan-ethnic "folk" into their respective states by all allying with each other by joining the Eurasian alliance. Russia is officially a democracy, but only in a limited capacity and internationally find such common ground with the militarists of East Europe. Eurasia conquered and subjugated Finland, Turkey, and Arabic Republic with the help of Persia.

With the end of the US civil war and unification of the Americas, the Entente is ready to take the fight back to Europe.

It starts with Border skirmishes between Spain and France, then develops into a full multi-national mechanized drive through France to rescue the besieged Low Countries.

Huge losses at sea on both sides occurred during the Battle of Britain, but eventually the Entente navies won, and the assault overwhelmed British defenders, especially since the Exiles had help from a Welsh uprising and some Scottish resistors.

Spain installed a proper catholic regime in Ireland, but also returned Ulster to the British, who reformed the United Kingdom and its Empire.

After that, it was a simple matter of sending the navy to Japan to finish them off. The Japanese had already failed to take over Malaya, and now with both the Russians and Chinese bearing down on them they agreed to surrender.

    131. Germany - Neutral/Monarchist
  • This was somewhat of a challenge run.

I gave maximum buffs to France, Britain and CSA

Also gave all technologies, including mutually exclusive ones, to both France and Britain at game start

As Germany, I had to suffer the revolution and restore authdem rule in the new republic.

As expected, the revolution cost me the entire starting army which had to be rebuilt from scratch, but I got back the entire navy, plus I managed to salvage the Asian navy before they collapsed.
Although the monarchy was gone and we had temporarily been forced to ally with the 3rd Internationale, German Africa remained stable and strong, hoping order would be restored in the homeland.

Taking advantage of the relaxed attitudes in France and Britain, Germany invaded Belgium and Netherlands. From there, Germany staged its simultaneous invasions of France and Britain. The Navy secured Dover before the British could react, while the army used tanks to pummel the French, who had taken over the fortifications of Alsace.

However, what was really unexpected was that despite the huge boosts to technology, productivity, and political power, the 3rd Internationale did not actually build up much industry or army units and instead languished apathetically as Germany recovered and re-eclipsed them. The war, rather than being a slow slog against a higher quality enemy, was still painful but rather quick, with a the slightly more numerous but vastly inferior German navy able to hold of the enemy fleets long enough for German tanks to assemble in southern and eastern England. The British infantry did not have the necessary equipment to defeat armor, and were overrun.

Due to the rapid capture of London, the British fell first, and then it was only a matter of time until the frontline divisions in France suffered enough attrition that the tanks found a weak spot and pried open a breakthrough. German armor surrounded Paris and began occupying deep into the countryside. The Internationale collapsed, and Germany had secured itself.

Then there were further elections, which fraudulently allowed the major corporations to influence the government, resulting in an illiberal "democracy" where the military and corporatists held all the power and decided the results of the electoral process. Satisfied with this right-wing government, Africa submitted to rejoining the German Empire.

Soon afterwards, National France demanded to be allowed to return to the European Mainland. Germany refused, and National France foolishly declared war. The Entente, having already lost North America to the syndicalists, stood no chance and were easily dispatched by Germany, along with help from Spain, which annexed Portugal.

In the rest of the world. Poland-Ukrainian alliance dominates Eastern Europe while Serbia, Restored Byzantium, and an Afghani Persian Empire face off against the Arabs in the Middle East.
Japan dominates Asia, except China which remains somewhat peacefully divided.

Syndicalist Mexico and Argentina brought the revolution to Latin America.

If I look for a challenge, next time I'll have to try something more extreme.

    132. Bonus Round X - Crusader Kings 3
  • Game of Thrones Mod - Crowned Stag start date in 283 AC.

In the style of an in-universe history record. Only select types of events are logged, and only concerning lords of King-rank or higher, aside from a couple special characters from the original story.

I played as the Starks of Winterfell, my aim was to become a strong independent kingdom, seating as many Starks as possible on as many lordships as possible, first inside the North, then also outside.

    282 Robert's Rebellion begins
    283 Robert's Rebellion ends

    283 North

Jon Snow born, son of Brandon Stark (Secretly son of Lyanna Stark and Prince Rhaegar Targaryen).
Robb Stark born, son of Lord Eddard Stark.
Eddard Stark Lord of Winterfell, appoints younger brother Benjen Lord of Moat Cailin.

    298 Crownlands
Grand Tournament of Robert Baratheon. All major lords and knights in attendance through 299.

    299 Crownlands
Viserys Targaryen invaded Westeros to reclaim the Iron Throne. The Targaryen army numbered 80,000 mostly from Essosi sellswords but also some traitor Westerosi such as Dornish and Crownlander supporters. The Westerosi Army numbered 90,000. Viserys was defeated at the Battle of the Kingswood before being able to cross his army over the Blackwater to attack King's Landing. The timely mobilization and coordination by the Westerosi lords resulting in the quick defeat of the invaders is attributed to Robert Baratheon's Grand Tourney which had already assembled the lords and their knights at King's Landing. The lords of the Reach might have attemped to support the invaders if they hadn't been surrounded by Robert's guests at the start of the war, so they declared for the Baratheons instead of the Targaryens. Such good fortune on the part of King Robert's timing stands as proof of his right to rule in the light of the Seven.
After the Battle of the Kingswood, Viserys was captured and executed, along with Arianne Martell.
Ser Jaime Lannister of the Kingsguard died in battle, defending his King Robert. Son of Lord Tywin Lannister and brother of Queen Cersei (Secretly Cersei's lover and father of the two princes and the two princesses).

Lord Wyl died of illness on the march, so his son Gillam Vypren took command of the usurper army. The Northern armies vastly outnumbered the rebel Riverlanders, so the army was split into two equal parts, one to siege the enemy capital at Stillfen in the Lakeleaf highland area, the other to defend Riverrun against the rebel army that was heading there to besiege it. Although there was a mutiny from many northern lords who did not wish to fight in the South that resulted in nearly ten thousand soliders quitting the campaign, there was still plenty left over to outnumber the rebels 2-to-1 in every battle while maintaining the detached siege army.

    416 Riverlands

    Map legend:
Stars are capitals of independent kingdoms. Triangles are capitals of kingdom-tier lords paramount. Diamonds are capitals of duke-tier lords belonging to Great Houses, not including dukes of the same great house as their overlord.
White outlines are Independent Westeros, Black outlines are Iron-Thone Westeros aligned.
    Stark - Grey
    Targaryen - Dark Red
    Lannister- Light Magenta
    Baratheon - Yellow
    Tyrell - Green

    133. Korea - Communist
  • This was just to test the new Arms against Tyranny DLC along with some of my own custom combat balance modding.

I started as Japan and went with a democratic restoration path, which releases its colonies as independent countries. From there I switched to playing Korea.

At first, the Japanese-aligned transition government wanted to return Korea to the Joseon dynasty with a constitutional monarchy, however the people clamored for a republic. The government crackdown was brutal, pushing the protestors into the arms of radical groups, such as the communists.

A massive protest in the capital Seoul resulted in the overthrow of the government offices there. What remained of the civil administration fled to establish a rival government in Pyongyang. Korea was divided between a communist south and nationalist north. A small volunteer army formed and invaded the North, while the nationalists in the civil war were unable to convince anyone to reform a functioning army. The war ended quickly with the capture of Pyongyang.

However, the revolution was not over. The overhauling of the economy and rapid industrial expansion lead to a booming and prosperous population. Some argued that additional territory for the Korean population would be necessary, along with greater market access to fuel the industrial economic boom. Ideally, Korea would partner with the Chinese, however they were ideologically opposed and were intent on finishing off their own communist faction and wanted nothing to do with Korea subversion.

The Soviets were next in line but fell into civil war when anti-Stalin groups formed a coalition, convincing most of the army to fight. However, by granting greater autonomy to the ethnic minorities, Stalin ensured the loyalty of the european and central asian republics and raised a new army to fight the rebels in Siberia.

Meanwhile in the rest of the world, Britain and France developed communist-leaning socdem governments, and attempted to intervene in European governments. The Franco-British invasion of the Netherlands was the last straw and the USA joined the war on the side of the liberal democracies (and to protect the oil interests in Indonesia).

The Franco-British then lost the European front against the Nazis and relocated their governments to Africa, where they continued the war against a middle eastern coalition of Turkey, Bulgaria, Iraq, and Iran. Iran and Turkey conquered India, while Iraq liberated the arab colonies.

The Nazis, after defeating western europe, thought they could finish off the Soviets who were still distracted with the rebels in Siberia. However, Stalin had foreseen this betrayal and fortified the border, surprising the German invasion with strong prepared defenses. The invasion stalled and did not advance beyond pre-war Poland.

Korea offered to join the Soviets and finish off their Siberian problem to let them concentrate on counter-attacking the Nazis in exchange for the territory of outer Manchuria. Korea soon finished training their large army for the liberation of China to bring them into the Soviet sphere. The opportunity opened with China was distracted fighting a war against Japan.

At first it was a slog through rough terrain and narrow passes to get through the Beijing area, but then the open plains of central China allowed a rapid advance. In south China the Japanese had establish a strong foothold so Korea declared war on Japan to dislodge them and be the only liberators of all of China. Japan's naval fleet had been in disarray due to their own civil war and thus Korea was able to bring ashore an army to invade the Japanese islands. It was a long and bloody slog since most of the Japanese army had concentrated on the ports to get ready to head to China. Also, they knew their coastline and trapped many attempted Korean landings resulting in slaughters at the beachheads. But after multiple more attempts biting off piece after piece, the Japanese defenders were spread thin and a final surprise raid captured Tokyo, ending the war.

Korea divided Japan into a rump client state, and took Kyushu, Hokkaido, Okinawa, and Taiwan as colonies.

The USA failed to reinstate democracy in Europe due to the Soviets capturing Germany first, leaving only neutral nordics. However, the USA did enforce democracy in Latin America.

The African Union is a Franco-British merger state to combine the colonies into a single system to be more resilient against Stalinists, Capitalists, and Jihadists. The African Union maintains the commonwealth ties with democratic South Africa and communist Australia.

    134. Norway - Democratic
  • Did this one to try the new nordic focus tree.

Norway prepared to resist fascist and communist aggression, by creating an alliance for the democracies of scandinavia to join. However, Sweden and Finland remained content on their own as long as they were at peace. Denmark wisely joined Norway.

Germany fell into civil war as the nazis fought an anti-hitler faction. Jumping at the opportunity, Norway intervened in the war to get the anti-nazis into their faction.

The British became a fascist empire, and invaded the USA when it fell into civil war. However, the invasion from Canada first hit the midwest, home of the American fascists, which allowed the democratic faction the breathing room to survive the civil war.

France had a growing communist and fascist movement, and had its own large civil war, which ended in communist victory. They went to war with the British fascists, and took over their African and Asian colonies. France then helped spread the revolution to Iberia. However, the conservatives were still a majority in the French population and the fascists resurged again, resulting in a second civil war. This one saw German intervention, which almost helped the fascists win, but then the German volunteers had to suddenly be recalled due to war in the Balkans. The Germans singlehandedly beat Yugoslavia, Hungary, Greece, and Turkey. However the sudden disappearance of their allies from the front lines saw the French rebel army collapse and the communists recaptured Paris. The fighting had been deeply unpopular and even though the civil wars ended in communist victory, the people demanded elections and saw a peaceful transition into a conservative republic. In a strange twist of fate, one of the presidential candidates was a Bourbon royal pretender. He won the election and in a popular coup crowned himself king.

Meanwhile, Norway entered the war to take down the fascist british, invading their ally Italy as well which became a client state to the French. With the British capitulation, the democratic USA was rescued. Japan attempted to invade the Philippines and Hawaii, but the Norway helped the USA beat them as well. China joined the alliance due to the war against Japan.

The naval invasions were possible due to advanced scandinavian shipbuilding technology and industrial investment. Norway spearheaded the creation of a new class of all-purpose cruisers. They had the speed of light cruisers with heavy torpedo armament to take down capital ships, along with gun batteries for swatting away their escorts. They were equipped with radars in order to be deployed in wide formations without the need for spotters. A task force of 50 such cruisers was able to bully the british Royal navy out of the North sea, clearing the way for the Scandinavian marines. The fleet then also cleared the Mediterranean and East China sea.

Sweden establish its own Nordic Defense League, which would have been welcome expect they demanded the annexation of Norway, so we annexed them instead.

Finland demanded the liberation of the Sami people, which was accepted by Norway and the Soviets, and then Finland joined Norway's union.

Once the wars were over. The Germans and Chinese we no longer interested in remaining with the democratic alliance, so Germany and France formed a monarchist alliance, with China being aligned to them.

    135. United States - Communist
  • Technocratic america please

Another day in the world of Kaiserreich.

The American political establishment, mired by corruption from profit-seeking corporations, was stuck with a hands-off policy that utterly failed to deal the ongoing economic crisis. A crisis that lasted over decade through the 20's and early 30's. There were hopes that after the mid-1930's there would be some sort of recovery but those hopes were dashed by the Black Friday market crash.

In the upcoming elections of 1936, the radical candidates on the right and left seemed to be the only reasonable options who promised to completely change the system that had failed. In the public area left arguments prevailed and the election saw the legitimate victory of the socialists. However, there was many reactionary forces, and election deniers formed terrorist militias, sparking the Second American Civil War.

The Combined Syndicates of America quickly reorganized the parts of the country they controlled, centered around the Midwest and iron belt through Pennsylvania and New York City. A militia army was raised and sent forth to capture the industrial northeast before confronting the so-called constitutionalists and longists in the south.

Alaska and Texas completely declared independence, while the Pacific and Rocky mountain areas battled over command of the Federal Government in the West. In the South, right wing factions stabbed at each other while hounded by Black nationalists terrorist cells.

By exploiting the division between its enemies, the CSA was able to conquer one region at a time, and having sequestered all the heavy industry regions of the country it was easy to equip a proper army that far outstripped the resistance in firepower. In less than a year the war was a crushing victory for the forces of socialism.

Over the next two years the focus on the country was rebuilding from the short but devastating civil war, also the radical economic shift allowed for a boom in domestic growth. There was a growing need to coordinate the exponential growth of successful companies with the socialist charter of public good, that is where the technocrats entered the scene. By merging corprotism and totalist socialism, a new class of hyper-competent party leaders would guide the hand of state and company for the good of all.

By the election of 1940 there was serious discussion of making the transition. There was heated arguments over who would be the next president and the sitting president assumed re-election. After a congressional scuffle that some would call a coup, the office of the president was temporarily vacated and replaced by a general technocratic council. Among the industrialists they decided that the one man who should represent the new face of America should be the face of the latest and greatest scientific achievement, Mr. Oppenheimer. Thus Oppenheimer was presented as presidential candidate and took office.

Meanwhile in the rest of the world, the European syndicalists were in a spot of trouble after coups had toppled their governments and replaced them with unpopular totalists leaders who destabilized their own countries in their attempts to further the revolution at home. The Entente saw this as their way in and intervened, attempting a surprise invasion of France, while Britain saw the uprising and rebellion of welsh and scottish nationalists.

Germany did not intervene, since they were concentrating on dealing with the collapse of the Reichspakt in the east and their own economic trouble. Against all odds however the French and British put down the rebellions and threw out the reactionary invaders, and even counter-invaded the Entente, liberating Portugal and large parts of Africa outside of German middleAfrica.

Canada was under siege, and at this point the American Technocratic Union had recovered enough to thrust itself back onto the world stage, starting with the invasion of Canada in solidarity with their totalist brothers across the Atlantic. During the years of reconstruction America had also greatly modernized its large but out-of-date fleet of warships. The old battleships were refitted into aircraft carriers and were used as mobile bases to support massive marine invasion fleets that swept over the Caribbean and then central America. From there, American armored divisions thundered across south America, quickly unifying most of the continent into the Technocratic Union.

Venezuela and Mexico were spared, on account of already being allies in the Internationale. America took the next few years to build up and integrate the conquered territories, making America an accurate moniker of a country that spanned the entire continent in truth and no longer just in name.

Soon after the victory in America, the Internationale launched itself against Germany. Poland, Norway, and Italy joined willingly. Yugoslavs which had previously been defeated by the Austrians saw this as their opportunity for liberation. Seeing good progress being made in Europe and Africa, America let the Internationale handle itself and turned its own gaze to Asia.

Russia was a revolving door of autocratic dictators, leaving the pro-Japanese leaders in Vladivostok feeling like they had a chance to re-unify Russia from the East.
China was still divided, but was collecting into three main sections: the democracies in the south, the fascist Tian Dynasty in the center, and the pro-japanese Mongolians and Tibetans in the West. The Japanese also assembled the Thai, Nepalese, Turkmen, and Philippinos, and Vietnamese to their side to fight the remnants of the German and Entente colonies. Japan also conquered Australia and installed their puppet government there.

India was unified by the syndicalist Gandhi, who then stepped aside to let elections turn the country away from radical socialism and instead transitioned into a traditional republic.

With the defeat of Germany and liberation of Europe, the Internationale kept marching eastwards and was now at war with Russia, squeezing them as the hammer against the Japanese anvil.

Japan also used the coastal cities to launch a major invasion of China. The Fascist Tian monarchy was no friend to America, but Japanese domination of Asia could not be allowed, so before the Chinese could capitulate, America moved its fleets into position and launched the greatest naval operation of all time. Nearly 200 aircraft carriers participated, with over 100 parked off the coast of Japan itself, escorted by hundreds of battlecruiser and frigate class combat ships. They launched thousands of aircraft to clear the skies and seas of Japan, which then thundered under the overwhelming artillery of the marine corps when Japanese units made their stand on the central mountain range.

The invasion proceeded without a hitch, and the subsequent supply bases in Japan allowed the modern tank army to make landfall in Korea, where the liberation of mainland asia would begin. However, this ground operation would take time. Millions would die in China, Russia, and firepower superiority would mean little in the jungles of southeast asia, so Oppenheimer turned his nuclear project into the greatest weapons ever devised.

Seeing as how Japan had already been captured there was no real chance of not winning, it was just a matter of time until the oppositition surrendered. So a nuclear demonstration was ordered. In the harbor outside of Bangkok, a nuclear weapon was detonated, convincing the asians of the futility of resistance.

In Russia, the war had ground to a standstill on the muddy fields between Moscow and Smolensk. So Volgograd was bombed, as well as the fortified defense lines outside of Moscow. With this, the Russian military could no defend against the last wave of attack and Russia capitulated, ending the war.

America did not directly occupy all the enemy countries by the time they surrendered on the account of the nuclear threat, so outside of Japan and Manchuria, the Asian alliance of autocracies mostly kept their governments but agreed to a state of subservience to the Technocracy and would eventually be expected to reform their economies at the direction of America.

The world had been put on the path to better and brighter future, using dazzling technology to end the war quickly and efficiently, saving many millions of lives.

    136. Mongolia - Fascist
  • I'd like to give you the reason to do Mongolia again and I think you already did the Monarchist(?) path so I am requesting/suggesting you pick whichever option ideal for your needs in regards to Making Mongolia Great Again lol

For some additional difficulty, I set all western countries and Japan to go Democratic.

Mongolia is extremely poor in all aspects. However, there are some resources that are proportionally equal between all countries and can be maximized by the player much better than the AI is able to. That being Political Power, Command Power, and Army Experience.

By min-maxing my government policies, ministers, special forces and army doctrines, and high command advisors, I am able to to give Mongolia a qualitative edge over its similarly underdeveloped neighbors. Using cavalry with as much army movement speed bonuses as we can manage will help us win wars cheaply and efficiently against out weak neighbors. We start by quickly fabricating a wargoal on Xibei San Ma. There are a small Chinese warlord with the largest population that we border. We invade them. They have only 10 divisions, so we recruit 12 and use our 10 to pin down theirs in combat on the contact line while those extra divisions sneak past gaps in the frontline and capture their supply centers and victory points.

Having captured the population and industry of XSM, we are able to recruit a larger army, to invade Sinkiang, Shanxi, and Tannu Tuva. At this point we have flipped to fascism and taken the recruitable population bonus. This snowballing allows to fill out our divisions into two armies. The Soviets are in civil war with various breakaway states declaring independence, so we invade Kazakhstan, and the rest of the central asian republics. From there, the Soviets are close to capitulating to the Russian rebels, so now is the time to declare war before they redeploy.

Our invasion of Russia is much more costly now that we are facing better enemy divisions, but resistance is uncoordinated and eventually we are able to capture the whole Soviet Union. Turkey started some trouble in the Caucasus so we ended up at war and had to conquer Turkey. Since they we the ones who declared war on us, the Allied guarantee did not fire and we avoid war with the western powers.

In Europe, Italy is mired in a war against Yugoslavia that it is slowly losing until it recruits fascist spain's help, then it wins. France flipped communist and got invaded by the Allies, Sweden defended the nordics from an aggressive monarchist Denmark. Germany helped in both those wars. The USA and Japan also join the Allies to fight fascist Japanese rebels. Lithuania took over the Baltics and reformed Poland-Lithuania

There are now five democratic great powers who are ready to hand out guarantees of independence while expanding the Allies alliance, so I have to be careful with my next wars. I justify-cancel on various european democracies to trick the Allies into guaranteeing countries I do not plan on attacking, so that their political power is tied up there, giving me a free hand in the Middle East and China.

My best stroke of good luck comes when Poland-Lithuania challenges me to a fight! they probably wanted to reclaim the PLC's core territories in Belarus/Ukraine and since I had no army stationed on their border they must have mistaken that for weakness! I prepare a full field army and carefully set a fallback line one tile back from the border tiles so that the Polish do not see any adjacent units and continue to believe in my weakness, to make sure they declare war on me, which saves me the trouble of figuring out declaring war on them.

On the stroke of midnight their declaration comes, and my army surges forward from their positions, surprising the poles with sudden resistance where they expected none.

After a fierce air battle, we establish air superiority and grind down their army in a battle of attrition. After several million casualties on both sides, their army is beginning to lack in equipment and manpower while we are still able to replenish, so they fall back deeper and deeper into Poland until their front line breaks just south of Prussia, and our army filters through the gap to capture Warsaw.

The fascist italians attack greece, getting them trouble with the Allies and are quickly put down, we take the opportunity to snipe Syria, which the Italians had previously lifted from the communist french.

Although I was technically not the aggressor, the Allies are done with my expansion. Bulgaria instigates a border clash in Thrace, hoping to capture Istanbul no doubt. The rest of the Allies back them up but our border armies are a great enough threat to keep them at bay. As revenge our own border clash seizes Palestine and Sinai. With the threat of losing the Suez canal, the British order the Bulgarians to stand down.

We give the Germans the Danzig corridor in exchange for buffer territory around Leningrad. We give up Chinese claims to Taiwan and Hong Kong as well as parts of India in exchange for non-interference in the re-alignment of Korea, which we promise will remain independent and neutral.

With our immediate outstanding issues resolved, it seems a massive world war is averted for now. The Allies may be confident in their long-term victory, but it would be extremely costly and the Mongol Empire has demonstrated its ability to co-opt and sacrifice its conquered subjects, not to mention the whispers of Mongol Nuclear development being not far behind that of the West.

    137. Italy - Neutral/Monarchist
  • It's been forever since I tried paratroopers, and with the DLC revamping special forces I decided to go for a paratroop-only challenge run.

Of course, special forces can only be recruited as a fraction of your real army, so I trained home guard infantry to pad out my army, as well as some tank divisions with all the extra tank equipment I had from building airborne armor divisions.

Italy starts at war with Ethiopia. After some initial setbacks, the army criticizes Mussolini's incompetent leadership, and eventually a coup deposes the fascist government. At first, the new republic looks like it might transition into democracy, but instead it goes back to being a kingdom. The church is granted many privileges to buy political support for the unstable new regime. However, the church takes advantage and presses another coup, deposing the king and instating the Pope as the ultimate sovereign.

The Italian army, recovering from the costly victory in Africa, sends some volunteer forces to help the nationalists fight in Spain, but the nationalists fragment into civil war between the fascists and carlists, so the volunteers return home resulting in communist victory in Spain.

With the army reorganized, Italy presses demands on Yugoslavia, which cedes Dalmatia without a fight. Albania also submits. However, Italy presses more demands and this time the Yugoslavs hold firm. Italy invades swiftly, but Yugoslavia is protected by Romania and Czechoslovakia, who still have relatively strong armies at this early stage. After some struggle due to low numbers, the Italian air industry is able to produce enough fighter planes to secure air superiority over the skies of the Balkans, and the paradrops being to rain down...

Wave after wave of airborne delivered light infantry are placed in strategic locations right behind the front lines, on railroads, supply centers, and anchor point terrain such as rivers and mountains. This creates and instant encirclement effect on the Romanians on the front lines, who are forced to break formation to retreat to safety. In the chaos, a few Italian divisions manage to capture Bucharest, and Romania capitulates.

Czechoslovakia could only send half its army to defend against the Italian incursion from the south due to having to guard its long border with Germany. Another airdrop and Prague was seized, resulting in another swift capitulation.

Italian spies notice that Austria and Hungary are looking to join the German Empire, so Italian diplomats rush to pretend to be Germany's ally and friend, even offering them no objection to the annexation of Austria, but Italy sabotages Hungary's introduction into the alliance and invades before their army could recover from the effects of the treaty of Trianon.

Sweden, fancying itself a great democratic power set on protecting European nations from Italian-German aggression had declared war back during the invasion of Czechoslovakia, but they couldn't reach us so we ignored them until now. Germany is also entering conflict against Lithuania over control of Polish territories.

So having defeated all its eastern enemies, Italy pivots north. Poland in invaded, while the entire airforce sets itself up in German bases on the Baltic, ready to send another wave of paratrooper armies across the water into the north. After the initial shock and awe capture of Swedish ports and major cities, the rest of Scandinavia easily falls under the domain of Germany.

Italy pivots back south, since events progressing in the Middle East and Africa. France and Britain went communist and the new governments are granting independence to the colonies. Italy demands the subjugation of the Holy Land, and Palestine submits without a fight. Egypt rejects, but has no army so is quickly overrun.

The rest of the Middle East has fallen under the guidance of the Ottoman Federation, a democratic coalition to oppose western influence. Italy invades Turkey easily accepts the surrender of Syria, Iraq, Iran, and Afghanistan.

Now, the only remaining territory in the Mediterranean that is not Italian is Greece, which as become guaranteed by the western communists in Britain and France. It is time for the ultimate showdown.

Italian armies place themselves on the Pyrenees and Rhine lines to attack from the south and the north through the low countries. The paratroopers will secure the entire length of the Rhone river, cutting off southern France and decimating its army in a massive encirclement.

In a matter of weeks, France falls. Next, the airforce sends fighters wings with a total strength of 2,000 fighter craft to seize control over the skies of Britain. Despite the propaganda, the British air forces have nothing against the modern deadly Italian manufacture designs. Three entire paratrooper armies completely blanket south England, and London falls in days, the rest of Britain with it.

Suddenly Italy controls a vast global colonial empire and almost the entirety of the Mediterranean coast . The only piece missing for the completion of Mare Nostrum is Spain. However Spain is a puppet of the Moscow communists, and taking down the soviets would de another massive war. However, spies reveal that the Soviets are about to be distracted in the far East against the Japanese, who have just finishes taking over China. Also, their airforce, while large, is not as powerful as the Italians and is spread out over their vast territory while the Italians can concentrate their air control over their target drop zones.

So the invasion plan moves forward. When the Soviets are at war with Japan, the skies of Russia suddenly fill with Italian transport planes. Although the campaign is costly and sees many losses to attrition, the Soviets are never able to field a solid front line and are eventually totally occupied west of the Urals.

Their ally communist sinkiang takes leadership of the central asian republics, only to capitulate in the face of Japanese threats.

In a stroke of great luck that the Pope would declare holy providence and proof of divine favor, Portugal unities the crowns of Brazil and submits its suzerainty to the Papal State, completing the re-unification of the Roman Empire.

Many Latin American countries agree to join the Roman alliance, though some do not accept and are invaded. The USA, recovering from civil war is not able to intervene to enforce the Monroe Doctrine. Instead, the USA and Canada look towards the last remaining democracies in the world, mostly former commonwealth to ensure collective security.

    138. Mexico - Fascist
  • Kaiserredux- Aztec mexico (Communist)

I was a little bit confused at first, but after some research it looks like the Aztec larpers are actually the New Guard of the Goldshirt natpops, so not communist.

With the death of the president at the hands of an assassin, Mexico fell into chaos. The revolution was in danger and in order to protect the revolution, the Goldshirts seized power and purge the government of the weak socialists who were not filling to follow revolutionary logic through to its natural conclusion. Also, their xenophilic love for european and christian nations was disgusting, the true Mexican revolution would be for the sake of the people of Mexico, not any colonizers.

The government began a process of de-hispanification of the Americas, promoting a native american identity over hispanic one. A new ritual cult was established that reinforced the stability of the nation by building massive modern-architecture pyramids to serve as Temples of the Revolution, where dissidents, criminals, and other public enemies would be publicly executed in the theatrical style of human sacrifice.

Also, new esoteric race science theories began to circulate in what passed for academic circles in Mexican society, which detailed the epic history and origins of the native americans, including the ancient Aztecs who actually came from the legendary lost civilization of Atlantis! Thus, despite native Mexicans actually were ethnically related to modern hispanic people by virtue of their connection to ancient north africa, whose last iteration of colonizing europe was the famous empire of Carthage, built by the remnants of the white african atlanteans. Mexico thus had irridentist claims to iberia and north africa that went much deeper than simply reforming the Spanish colonial empire.

However, Mexico was still just a medium-sized poor country. To rise to new heights and ensure its security against global threats, it needed to expand its territory. Luckily, the yanquis fell into civil war. New Mexico yielding their territory to Mexico peacefully, giving the reformed Mexican army a staging ground to recover the rest of their old northern territories.

The army had been reformed to be centered around the mountaineer special forces, who would guide the army through the rocky american west. With the Pacific States refusal to submit, the invasion began.

The fighting was brutal, and while individual mexican divisions had a clear advantage for the Californian militia units, the Pacific States simply had many more divisions and managed to overwhelm several Mexican units who became lost in the deserts. However, eventually the Mexicans broke through San Diego and marched up from Los Angeles to San Francisco and Sacramento, securing the west.

More mobilization laws were passed, standards reduced, and the army filled out with more and more men. The Mexican army became an inorexible wave that crashed over the Mississippi and engulfed the entire USA except for Alaska and New England, protected by Canada, and New York City, the last bastion of the Federal Government.

High on their success, the confident Mexican army launched a frontal assault from New Jersey attempting to ford the Hudson River. However, this would be where the great Mexican tide would break. The Mexican army had never prepared for amphibious operations, and the Americans had evacuated most of their army and equipment, nearly 1 million strong, dug in deep in prepared defenses.

The first assault failed with heavy casualties, but the theory was that the Yanquis would be beaten down over time, lose their cohesion over sustained combat. So long as the front line divisions rotated and kept up the pressure, the defenders would eventually be worn down. So every day and every night was battle, never ending with losses ranging from 10,000 minimum to 50,000 a week depending on the intensity.

It took nearly a year and after 2 million Mexican losses the US army finally could no longer replenish their killed soldiers, and New York City was captured.

But this operation only required one army, so in the meantime the rest of the armies conquered their way through central and south America, leaving out a few territories.
Costa Rica due to its German protection, Haiti due to being Internationale, Brazil due to being diplomatically friendly, and the Dutch, French, Canadian possessions.

Germany was at war on two fronts against Savinkovs's Eurasian League in the East and Internationale in the West.

The Entente was occupied taking over the Middle East and Africa, which had collapsed into anarchy when Germany went to war. The Entente had attempted to invade their homelands, but one assault on mainland France, and two on England all failed with large losses, so the restoration of their countries was permanently on hold.

Mexico decided to join the Japanese alliance, and after securing the fealty of the Philippines, prepared to invade the Netherlands. Having Japanese support would make invading Indonesia easy and would cover the pacific front so that Mexico could focus on Europe. That's right, the time had come for the Sunset Invasion.

Mexican ships bearing the new generation of Aztec warriors stormed ashore in Spain and Holland, beating away the Dutch and Internationale. Mexican forces crushed the syndicalist armies and drove through France. The Internationale had been defeated.

Mexico made two sets of deals. First, they offered to the Germans occupation of the Netherlands and neutrality of their western border in exchange for control over Morocco and Costa Rica. Germany Accepted. Then, Mexico gave back mainland France to nationalist France in exchange for Alegria and Tunisia and a pledge of neutrality on mainland Europe. Having no other options to return home, they agreed as well.

Mexico could have invaded the British isles, but had no interest in helping Canada reform the British empire, so Britain remained isolated.

In Africa, the chaos of the collapse of the German Africa had settled with most of Africa controlled by National France's overseas colonial structure. East Africa had been consolidated as a rogue kingdom under Herman Goering. Goering's Africa was a strange bastion of German supremacist ideology yet was able to engage the loyalty of the natives by granted them a share in the profits of their pirate ventures. This extensive pirate raiding activity was a bane of the entire Indian Ocean region, and Goering's land raids penetrated deep into the Congo, stealing from the resource mining enterprises where his guerilla army faces off against colonial mercenary forces.

Despite his battlefield success, Goering's wild aggression had drawn the ire of the rest of world, especially the Entente who severely outnumbered his army and no longer had other enemies to deal with. However, Goering's big lucky break would come when nationalist France's colonies banded together into a coalition for liberal freedom and equality. They had support from Canada. However, France wasn't about to give up its clutch and declared the native africans as rebels, putting France at war with the rest of the Entente. This betrayal saw France join the Reichspakt, and thus the Entente was at war again and couldn't space the resources to deal with Goering.

The Great Patriotic war between the Reich and Eurasian league had been raging for 6 years now through 1940 to 1946. Although the front lines have been frozen in trench warfare across poland for most of the war, the truth is that is has been a butal back-and-forth of trench assaults and counter-assaults resulting in 25 million losses for the Germans and 50 million losses for the Russians, and more across the rest of the members of each alliance. All participants of the war had scraped the bottom of the barrel for the last of their manpower reserves. An entire generation lost to attrition.
The Russians had run out of manpower first, and no longer able to make offensive moves, were being slowly pushed back by the Germans who were able to trade at a favorable loss ratio. However, with the Entente declaring war to deal with the French betrayal, Germany now could spare nothing for the attack and could only help the Turks stave off defeat. Even with a surprise invasion from Greece, Bulgaria held the line and had to be slowly ground down by the Ukrainians.

To pass the time while waiting for the outcome of the war, Mexico had invaded Italy and from there invaded the Austrian Empire, forcing them to relinquish Tyrolia and Venice to their Italian puppet. The rest of the Austrian empire collapsed from this mortal blow, with Slovenia joining Yugoslavia, Galicia joining Poland, and Czechia joining Slovakia, all members of the Eurasian league. The remnant of Austria decided to join Germany for protection.

This had balanced out the war again, and with no progress on all sides for another year with a few more million losses. To prevent the league army from marching on their new Austrian territory, Germany shocked the world by testing the first nuclear weapon on Yugoslav-controlled Budapest.

Finally, Japan brought everyone to the peace table when they demanded the submission of the Legation Cities in China, which was being reorganized after Japan conquered the Qing and United Front.

The Eurasian league would be allowed to form new governments in the countries they occupied in Sweden, Bulgaria, Hungary, but would withdraw from Turkish territory except for independent Kurdistan. Poland was partitioned along the line of control, leaving Krakow split in half along the Vistula.

The Germans agreed to peace hoping the Japanese, Russians, or Entente would eventually turn on each other. The Japanese agreed to temporary peace because they needed to focus on digesting their already massive conquests, so Mexico did not approve of any further moves. Russia agreed because they wouldn't be able to get anything better by dragging things out considering their manpower crisis. And the Entente simply had too many priorities, juggling between problems in Africa and preventing a Japanese attack in Asia.

So everyone walked away from the compromise with short short term benefits and a ton of long term resentments... the Cold War would set in as peace after World War was just an armistice for 20 years until the next generation would be ready to fill the ranks.
