111. Yemen - Fascist + Afghanistan - Fascist + Algeria - Neutral/Monarchist
I have a new idea.

There's this recent mod called "Red Banners" which overhauls Yemen with a huge focus tree (250+ focuses), a multitude of events, decisions and characters, and four pathways to choose from.

Do you think you could do a run of Yemen with this mod, choose the Islamist (fascist) path, and conquer all of Europe under the red banner?

How about Kaiserreich as Afghanistan?

Here's a middle-east package of runs. I still don't plan on doing Kaiserreich any time soon, but I approximated based on the goals provided.

First up:

Yemen forming Arabia

I was trying Camel cavalry for the first time and their performance was pretty disappointing, which cost me a lot of time conquering the arabian peninsula where I had to put down all of my own supply networks with little industry.
Unfortunately, this meant I couldn't conquer Europe because by the time I was finished with the Arabian pensinsula, Europe was united by a Franco-American alliance that swept in and conquered German-dominated central/eastern Europe once they had overcommitted to their invasion of the Soviets.
At least the British decolonization meant I didn't have to end up in a forever war against the Atlantic powers, instead just sniping each country as they became independent.

At the end, I managed to snag French Syria in a quick civil war where French fascists tried to destabilize Europe.

Second: Afghanistan forming the Persian Empire

This one went much more smoothly, I was able to conquer Iran and Iraq without trouble. Once the Soviets were on the ropes thanks to a British-German alliance, Afghanistan moves in to liberate the muslim quarter. Then the British-German alliance breaks up and they turn on each other in time for Japan to go to war with the WAllies.

Since Germany is able to hold the Allies in Europe, and Japan in Asia, Persia is able to sweep through the colonies and also an unfortunate Turkey. The Empire is successfully restored!

Finally: my own run for fun. Initially I was waiting for the Vicky3 to Hoi4 converter to come out so I could do a full Algeria campaign, but I got tired of waiting. Vicky 3 Algeria will come eventually but this is what I have for now: A Western Caliphate restoration.

I started with a full-decolonization and balkanization preset. After exploiting the power vacuum of decolonization to unite various muslim lands and reconquer Al-Andalus, Algeria sets its sights on taking over more of Europe than even the Ottomans managed. This was facilitated by a Soviet Civil War, where Algeria managed to secure southern russia, and from there springboarded into an invasion of Germany, due to being allies with the winning faction of Russia and France that both ended up at war with Germany when it tried to reconquer African colonies!

Also Chinese Peru happened when Latin American fascists joined the fascist Manchukuo which lost the war.

112. United States - Democratic
The Sleeping Giant Awakens!
Rather than stay neutral and focus on recovering from the Great Depression, the USA switched course and instead focused on not just economic intervention but also foreign intervention, to make the world safe from the growing threat of freedom-hating powers.

The communists and fascists had their revolutions and counter-revolutions in Mexico and Spain. So, the US intervened in Latin America, using the Secret Service to prevent anti-democratic takeovers, sometimes by launching their own coup that the US military would then intervene in...

Meanwhile, the main part of the armed forces focuses on preparing for conflict in Europe. Japan was also on the horizon, but the Navy would be able to handle them while the army did its thing in Europe first. While the main target for neutralization was Nazi Germany, the first intervention was in the Netherlands, at the request of the British, who feared that the Dutch government was about to collapse and turn hostile.

After that, France turned communist and got into war against Italy over the Balkans. While protecting the Balkans was also a priority for the British, France was closer so was neutralized first, as their civil war had rendered them a softer target and most of their army was stuck in the alps pinned by the Italians. The Italians were neutralized next.

Then, the Soviets attempted to invade Finland. This could have turned into a major war between the Comintern and the Allies, but the Axis were making very friendly talks with Stalin and it was feared that if full scale war was pursued, it would only push Stalin into the arms of Hitler, creating a fearsome Berlin-Moscow Axis.

Instead, the US and UK gave strong but indirect support to Finland. In the Middle East and India too there were proxy wars, as Iran and India fell to the Soviets, but Iraq and Pakistan were saved at the negotiating table.

Meanwhile, Japan ended up stuck in civil war as anti-fascists restored democratic rule to most of the Home Islands, but the Imperialists simply retreated to Manchuria where they were also conquered by the Soviets who "helped unify" China.

But then, an opportunity! While the ink was still wet on the ceasefire agreement between the Allies and Stalin that saw the end of the war in Finland and Asia, Hitler began his surprise invasion of the Soviet Union. The Axis armies penetrated deep into Russia south, in part thanks to support from their Turkish partner, but they provided just the opening the US needed. From the Low Countries, the Americans motorized and armored divisions surged forth and quickly overran most of Germany. One by one the Axis fell like dominoes. The Soviets, having regained their footing after the initial surprise, launched their counter-attack and regained all their territory. Stalin must have felt confident, that his new a rehabilitated Red Army was ready to crush the West who had only prevailed due to trickery. So after the Nazi surrender, the Soviets kept marching, and attempted to drive onwards to Berlin, sweeping aside their previous allies who stood in their path.

However, they underestimated the actual strength of the Allies, and it quickly became apparent that no Soviet army could stand against a line of American tank divisions. With multiple fronts open, including Finland, Iraq, and India, the Soviets collapsed. The Americans kept driving and after helping the Japanese along the way, overthrew the illegitimate pro-soviet chinese government.

The entire world is now part of the United Nation in some capacity, though most are either recently liberated, still colonies, or under reconstructive occupation. The only nation that is not participating in the UN is Saudi Arabia, temporarily suspended due to domestic instability.

113. United Kingdom - Fascist
For the British state, being the head of an empire containing 1/4th of the world was just not enough.

The small fledgling fascist party, headed by Mosley, made grand promises to the ruling conservative party and convinced them to allow the fascists into government. However, once Mosley was in, he made a play for power and after a group of ultranationalist recruits marched on London, the government allowed Mosley to become Prime Minister with a sham election.
As the fascists strengthened their grip on power in Britain, they also coordinated with the military, imposing martial law on the Dominions, preventing them from being able to declare independence. After a few tense weeks, London sent out new deputies who would be the leaders of loyalist fascist governments in the colonies.
Also, work began on uniting the dominions back into a more direct rule with Britain. The aim was to create a single centralize state for white anglophones. Additionally, it meant the various colonies could have some degree of autonomous home-rule, since they would never be completely integrated anyway. With home rule, the colonies could develop economically, providing a larger tax base for the Empire, while also reducing garrison costs.

By recruiting from the colonies, the British Empire assembled a huge international army to bring to bear for the invasion of Ireland and then America, which happened very quickly and easily, since neither country had prepared adequate defenses.

Meanwhile the Japanese co-opted the nationalist government in China with the help of the various autonomous warlords. And the Soviets fell into civil war that would see the Anti-soviet white forces make a comeback. The Germans took over much of eastern Europe, while the Italians did the same with the Balkans.
Greece successfully invaded Turkey and revived the Byzantine Empire!

During the fall of Turkey, the British had been intervening in Iraq and Iran to join their South Asian colonies with their African/Middle Eastern colonies.

The Spanish, French, and Portuguese all fell into vicious civil wars. In the French civil war, the Italians would intervene. Also, they allied with the Byzantines to try to bully the British out of the Middle East.

In response, the British took over both Italy and Byzantium. The British then decided to intervene in the Spanish and French civil wars.

Eventually, Europe was divided between the British in the Southwest, the Germans in the center, and the Russians in the East. The Germans allied with Poland to launch their invasion of Russia, but the Russians held them back. The British moved from across their borders and took over the Axis, leaving the Baltic scraps for Russia.

From their headquarters in Paris, the British forces on mainland Europe reorganize the various conquered nations into a single union that is joined to the British.

The World Empire consists of the European Union and British Empire. The European Union administers Euro Africa, which is latinophone. The British Empire is anglophone and consists of the United Kingdoms plus various colonies.
Latin America is diplomatically aligned with the British.

The only parts of the world to escape the sphere of influence of the World Empire are the neutral Scandinavian nations and the Russo-Japanese-Chinese alliance.

114. Japan - Democratic
Idea: Millennium Dawn Japan

WW3 was sparked when Russia, having turned back to communism, attempted to reconquer the old Soviet Empire. They invaded the Central Asian nations, and helped Iran invade Iraq. However, it was a step too far when the Russians attacked Estonia and Latvia, whereupon NATO intervened to put down the Russian ambitions.

However, NATO itself was a hodgepodge of various monarchists and fascists alongside the original democracies. Also Spain turned Communist but still sided with NATO against the revived Soviets. France and Turkey both betrayed NATO and had to be occupied.

The NATO forces rescued the baltic countries and liberated Iraq, then proceeded to counter-invade the Soviets. However, the advance was slow and painful as the Russians made NATO pay a high price for every step forward.

Meanwhile in Asia, Japan had formed an alliance with South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Philippines. Japan needed to take down the PRC and install democracy in Asia, however Taiwan refused to cooperate and instead turned authoritarian. So Japan organized pro-democracy Chinese people based in Canton to rally together and overthrow the PRC.
In the ensuing war, South Korea also successfully managed to capture North Korea with Japanese help.

China was made into a temporary supervised state of Japan so that they could grow into democracy. Various other Pacific Island nations also joined Japan's West Pacific Treaty Organization.

Based on their experience in China, Japan's spy agency became extremely adept at infiltrating governments and instigating coups to create new governments friendly to western Democracy. Taiwan's government was overthrown and the island was forced into becoming a democratic ally of Japan. Vietnam was targeted next, and after a brief civil war they joined WPTO. Next, Laos and Cambodia were overthrown.

Diplomatic pressure helped convince India to join the alliance, just in time as Pakistan was planning to attack them. In the ensuing war, Burma, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, and Bhutan as well as Pakistan all had their pro-communist governments overthrown.

Finally, Japan set its sights on Russia, and after liberating Siberia, the Russians agreed to an armistice that would see most borders return to pre-war, except for southern Russia and Ukraine.

Also, Ethiopia occupied South Sudan.

115. Latvia - Neutral/Monarchist
Latvia, under the leadership of the military directorate, strengthened itself so that it could the soviet threat to its independence.
The other baltic states also had a similar outlook, so a baltic partnership was formed. The Kingdom of Hungary and Finland were also friendly and joined the baltic alliance.

Poland attacked Lithuania, attempting to add it to their kingdom. The alliance came to aid of Lithuania, and Poland was soon defeated. The baltic alliance had proved its worth and was so popular that Lithuania and Estonia agreed to join into union with Lithuania and were annexed.

However, Hungary and Finland continued their ideological shift and left the baltic alliance to join the German-British alliance, which was engaged against the North Americans. Soon they would be at war with the Soviets as well.

The Soviets, seeking to increase their frontage against the European monarchists, declared war on the Baltic Union. They severely underestimated Baltic strength, and the baltic divisions, covered by heavily armored infantry support tanks, painlessly rolled over the softer Soviet divisions, soon marching across Soviet Europe.

With the collapse of the Soviets, the People's Republic of China took charge of the now Asia-centric Comintern, becoming the leader of soviet rump states in Siberia and Turkestan. The Chinese and their allies managed to push the Japanese off the mainland. Japan, due to having taken Indonesia from the Europeans, is isolated and hostile to most of the world.

With the only active frontlines in Kurdistan and Equatorial Africa having not budged in nearly 3 years of trench warfare, and with the Europeans kicked out of America, a bitter peace was signed as the four main factions stare down each other suspiciously.

The East European Union is ideologically friendly with Germany-Britain, but remains pleasantly neutral in the global cold war.

116. Belgium - Communist
Brussels became the symbolic heart of Europe when it hosted conventions with representatives from various leftist parties from the nations of Europe. When Belgian state was turned over the socialists, the time came for a pan-european unification movement. The quick takeovers of the Netherlands and Luxembourg were not a moment too soon, as the great opportunity presented itself when Germany declared war on all its neighbors. Czechoslovakia, France, Soviet Union. All came together and put down the Axis.

Then, despite the wartime alliance to defeat Germany, the French government was supplanted by radical anti-Soviet right wingers who pulled out of peace negotiations, giving up their chance at an occupation zone of Germany to avoid making deals with Bolsheviks. The Belgians took advantage and quickly overran France while it was isolated. All that what left was to occupy Italy and enough of western Europe would be assembled to proclaim a union state.

Unfortunately, Italy was occupied by the Soviets, who drove a hard bargain. They wanted to better secure their western border, especially after the Czechoslovaks abandoned the Comintern.

So Belgium invaded Poland and the Baltics, turning over Romania and eastern territories in exchange for Italy.

After that, Japan formed a super-alliance that included China and the USA, originally to solve the Chinese Civil War, but then also intervened in the Spanish Civil War. The Soviets also joined the super alliance to help the Republicans stamp out the fascists. The war also spilled over to Portugal. Once Iberia was pacified, Northern European socialists, Canada, and Czechoslovakia joined the European Union.

117. Japan - Neutral/Monarchist
Just a nice calm run playing isolationist Japan. Until China threw a glove at us.

Japan hadn't actually prepared to invade China, and took nearly a whole year from 1939 to 1940 just equipping a large enough army to invade China. Meanwhile, the Manchurian units held the frontline outside of Beijing until the naval invasion plans came through. China, having focused their military on the northern front, was completely helpless when port after port was overrun by Japanese infantry, which cleared the way for armored divisions to drive deep into China, eventually forcing their surrender.

Meanwhile, in the rest of the world, the success of the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact somehow convinced Hitler that avoiding war with the Soviets would work to his benefit. The rest of the world responded to Berlin-Moscow Axis by joining together with the Allies. However, Italy and the balkan fascists were surprisingly accommodating with trusting the bolsheviks, and stayed true to the Axis.

Poland and the Baltics were the first to fall, and were divided up as promised. Then the fall of the Low Countries and France. Germany set up Vichy France to govern the overseas territories in Germany's name, but the Free French quickly took back most of it, especially when the British quickly intervened in Iraq to prevent them from joining the Axis, which also helped bring Syria back into the fold.

Meanwhile, Iran was losing ground to a Soviet invasion. The successes of Germany in Western and Northern Europe convinced the authoritarians in Spain and Portugal to join the Axis.

However, by late 1940 the tide was turning. the Allies had enough strength to expulse the Axis from Africa, and in 1941 Turkey joined the Allies, which allowed the liberation of the Caucasus.

Stalin, having lost core territory in exchange for only the baltics, is feeling like he got a raw deal that favors Hitler too much...
And now that Japan has finished with China, perhaps there will be some opportunity in the East?
Neither Japan nor the Soviets want a land war in Asia, but neither are willing to give large concessions either. Japan can only give the Soviets promises of non-aggression if it makes the rest of the world its enemy. But the Soviets will want significant assurances in order to either make a big push against the Allies in the Middle East, or betray Hitler!

The year is 1942. The Allies, using overwhelming American industry have moved on to a strategy of contesting air superiority over Europe as a prelude to an eventual invasion that will feature battlefield use of nuclear weapons to clear the way for the liberators by dispersing german armor concentrations.

And now that fighting between the Allies and Soviets has frozen in the Caucasus, Hitler is becoming suspicious of his "friend" Stalin...

118. United States - Democratic
Idea: Millennium Dawn: USA

The USA and European Union set forward to peaceful development, but foreign aggressive powers would not let that peace stand.

A hyper militarist Russia emerged, and after Middle East interventionism brought the USA into conflict with Iraq and then Iran, Russia invited various anti-western nationalists and islamists into a united front of resistance. Afghanistan, Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Lebanon, Albania, Serbia, Switzerland, Brazil, Algeria, and Morocco answered the call. All had to be pacified and their governments rehabilitated with Democracy-building.

During the time of the costly invasion of Russia, there was a crisis in China, where the PRC somehow mishandled their domestic affairs and as a result their military recruitment plummeted and most of their active servicemen entered retirement. There isn't much explanation for why, but Taiwan saw the decrease in Chinese strength and invaded China! By appealing to the grievances of Southern Chinese minorities against Han oppression, Taiwan was able to secure southern china quickly and from there pushed forward, eventually conquering all of China.

After finally defeating Russia, the USA set about enforcing Democracy in Latin America. One by one, the independent nations that had gone astray from western ideals were captured and reformed.

However, even longstanding allies took odd turns. Japan attempted to reinstate their monarchy. Intervention!
Turkey turned communist and betrayed NATO. Intervention!
Canada elected a nationalist who advocated isolation. Intervention!
Malaysia turned communist but couldn't get protection from China anymore. Intervention!
Bangladesh also turned communist and wanted to help Malaysia while Australia and New Zealand refused to participate in the new pacific defense agreement. Intervention and Intervention!

Re-unified china wanted to set up its own asian market and compete with America. Time to liberate the Han Chinese from Cantonese oppression!

Somewhere along the way, Denmark, Italy, Latvia, and Luxembourg dropped out of NATO, with only Italy staying in the EU. But those guys didn't generate world tension or join any anti-western alliance so we let them be.

After years sending armies back-and-forth across the world, none now can can stand against the military force of Liberal Democracy. There is no room for discussion, all those who do not accept being forced into Freedom will be crushed! Wait, what?

119. Bulgaria - Communist
Idea: Try forming the Balkan Federation with either Republican Bulgarias (communist or democratic)

Bulgaria, having purged the Macedonian terrorists and ultranationalists, moved towards democracy and reconciliation with neighbors. Claims on territorial expansion were abandoned, and women were granted equal rights domestically. Bulgaria was quickly moving towards a progressive utopia.

Fortunately, neighboring Turkey and Yugoslavia adopted similar world outlooks. Unfortunately, they each wanted leadership of their own grand alliance. The Turks got convinced to join Bulgaria but the Yugoslavs, being far larger, would not be budged, so Bulgaria allowed Yugoslavia to be the leader.

Eventually, Hungary and Czechoslovakia were also converted to socialism and joined the alliance just in time to intervene in the Soviet Civil War, where the White resistance movement re-emerged. After a brutal struggle in southern Russia, the whites were driven out of european Russia, but held all of Siberia past the Urals.

Romania intervened on the side of the Whites, resulting in a Bulgarian counter-invasion to protect their allies. When the Balkan Federation formed, it also managed to include Greece. In the course of the Soviet civil war, many regions attempted to declare independence. The Caucasus, Crimea, and Ukraine were saved but with autonomy, while central asia and Belarus were mercilessly given back to Russia.

Once the main Ural supply centers and defense lines were captured, it was only a matter of time before the Whites would be defeated, so the Balkans demanded Italian territory, which was refused, so the Balkans, with the help of their French allies, invaded. Italy instantly collapsed, which gave the Balkans the idea of uniting not just the region but all of southern and eastern Europe into a South-Eastern European Federation.

Poland was next, allowing the communists to surround Germany on all sides. Germany had gotten fairly dangerous, having brought all the nordic countries into the Axis, as well as the Netherlands and India and Canada.

In order to defend themselves from the Nazi threat, the european socialists pre-emptively invaded Germany, which resulted in the replacement of governments in all former Axis members.

Meanwhile, the US and Australia joined the Chinese-British alliance against Japan. While the Chinese held off the Japanese army, the Americans and British used their naval power to subdue Japan, eventually achieving their surrender. New Zealand had betrayed the Allies to help Japan and had to be occupied as well.

120. France - Democratic
France, after the trials and tribulations of the Republic, decided that the forward would be beyond just conservativism, but backwards to an ideal tradition. Thus, the way was set towards a constitutional monarchy in order to set the house of France in order and forestall Communist uprising and Fascist invasion.

However, the question remained, which monarch to choose? The Bonapartes and Orleanists were out of the question for being infamously tied to even worse historical events that set the Republic forth in the first place. France would have to look deeper into its past. There was still a Bourbon monarchy in Spain that could be returned to the throne of France, but Spain was also currently a republic, one in chaos at that as well!

So, when the Spanish Civil War was at it's peak, France intervened, occupying all of Spain and raising it's once-deposed king to the united crown of France-Spain. Obviously, this move was supposed to have been illegal by the treaty that ended the War of Spanish Succession, but with Austria annexed by Germany and by British assent, the treaty was overturned by a new one.

Although the monarch is the legal head-of-state, democracy takes the reigns, and France-Spain, together with the British, set out to protect liberty from any danger. And dangers were out there.

Both the USA and USSR fell to terrible civil wars the brought forth oppressive tyrannies, even worse than Stalin, as hard as that might be imagine!
Though in China, the civil anarchy was cut mercifully short when the KMT was suddenly and bloodlessly overthrown by the CPC, and the rest of the autonomous regions joined the United Front to resist the Japanese invasion.

Germany, having secured alliances with various fascist governments in Europe, the Near East, and Latin America, launched their invasion, starting with Poland. Although Poland was quickly overrun, Southern Europe resisted, and Russia proved to be bottomless hole for Germany to loose armies in.

Once Germany was distracted on multiple fronts, France advanced, and installed rehabilitational governments in the defeated enemies. The Netherlands ended up requiring an intervention as well, resulting in the Union of West Europe or "UweU" for short.

Against the British-UweU Entente is a fascist Japanese-American alliance, which is friendly with the Russian Empire.
