October 24.

Cease fire along entire Israel front. Yom Kippur war ends.

November

Arab states decide to punish western countries for supporting Israel. Oil embargo starts. Arab members of OPEC reduce oil supplies for 5 million barrels per day, about 1 million of it is replaced from other sources. Reduced production represents some 7% of entire production. Prices begin to rise.

January 1974

Oil prices increase 100% percent with no end to embargo in sight.

Spring

Since begining of oil embargo prices had quadruplled. Arab states are unwilling to increase production. Egypt and Israel start negotiations. Egypt, emboldened by oil embargo demands Israel returns to 1967 borders and allow right of return for Palestinian refugees. Israel rejects and negotiations stall. US planners begin to make plans for invasion of Saudia Arabia and Kuwait with option to seize UAE. 82. airborne division begins training in desert environment.

Summer

With no end of oil embargo and new sources not able to cover shortage US draws definite plans for invasion. UK is contacted for help. UK's task would be to capture UAE as some British officers helped UAE. Britain pledges airborne brigade, RN help and RAF force. US contacts allies in Gulf region for help. Israel is willing but is rejected as unpractical. Turkey rejects help but Iran is enthusiastic. Shah offers help but sets two conditions. First one is that his forces will help secure Bahrein. Second one is increased transfers of F-4s, most modern planes in IIAF inventory. US grundiglly agrees to both as Iran's help is considered cruicial.

Autumn

US 82. division begins secretlly ariving to Iran and it's split into three brigades, one for seizure of Kuwait and two for Suadi oilfileds. 101. Air assault division follows soon. While USMC forces begin assembling outside Persian Gulf. UK forces begin arriving in Oman.

12. December

Operation »Desert Dune« begins with combined USAF, RAF and IIAF air attacks on Saudi, Kuwati, UAE and Bahreini airfilds and air defence sites, efectivelly destroying their airforces by evening. During night first airborne troops begin landing, seizing oilfilds mainlly intact. Sporadic fighting, no serious resistance is encountered. USMC establish several beacheds. UK troops make similar assault against AE and begin crossing border from Oman. IIA seize Bahrein with heliborne assault.

13. December

Linking of separate airheads begin. USMC beacheads and airheads are linked. Resistance stiffens but is mostlly inefective. First protest heard from Arab capitals and Moscow.

14. December

US, UK and Iran establish continuous front, linking all separate positions. Parsian Gulf coast, with exception of Iraqi is in Allied hands. 101. division begins flying into Saudia Arabia to reinforce US troops there. Majority of oilfields were captured intact altough some were destroyed or damaged. Ports are prepared to take tankers. Kuwaiti, Bahreini and UAE rulers escape to Saudi Arabia

15. December

UNSC meets in emergency session demanded by Saudia Arabia. Resolution calling for withdrawal of all foreign troops is blocked by combined US-UK veto. Iraq, fearing similar attack as well begins mobilising.

Late December

Iraqi forces are mobilised and begin massing in south. Iran responds with partial mobilisation. Protest against intervention in several Iranian cities are dispersed with several people killed. Iraqi president meets with Soviet ambassador. Soviet Union assures him that they will ot stand idly by. Iraq asks for increase in Soviet aid, specially weapons. Egypt breakes off negotiations with Israel as protest agaisnt invasion and asks for Soviet assisance.

Early January 1975

Shipments of oil from Gulf begin in greater quantities. Prices drop. Iran establishes bahrein as special military zone, run by Iranian military. UK protest this but protest are ignored.

If the US wants to really screw with the Saudis and Iraq, it can find some Shi'ite dissidents and proclaim a "Shi'ite Arab state" in eastern Saudi Arabia and southern Iraq (if Iraq attempts to interfere with the Anglo-American-Iranian invasion). The resulting state would gladly sell oil to the US at low prices.
