Could it be possible to have a widely practiced religion based on the mythology and beliefs of William Blake? I'd imagine it as a more politically oriented, anti-industrial sect of Christianity - maybe even analogous to a Protestant form of liberation theology.
Perhaps it could be widespread in revolutionary France, but I think Blake's aesthetic is very English (and also fits a more industrialized society better).
Could "Blakeism" work better in America?
Could it be revived in Britain later on, perhaps after 1848 as a more palatable alternative to socialism?
