Blair never enters politics

What if Tony Blair, one of the most influential pms in the last 50 years, never enters politics? Say he keeps to his music career and makes something of it, how does this affect the UK? I’ve seen threads before of Brown winning in 1994 but not really Blair being removed entirely, because there’s a big difference from still hanging around in a great office of state to not being there at all.

Obviously the first change would be a different mp for sedgefield in 1983 but how will Labour change after 1992 and will they do so well in 1997 without their winning candidate?

Is Blair ITTL talented enough to have an impact on popular music?

Is the POD that he never meets Cherie Booth? Then who she marries and whether she enters politics herself becomes relevant. Also, for what it is worth, Charlie Falconer and Derry Irvine never become Lord Chancellor ITTL.

On UK politics, Gordon Brown most likely runs for Labour leadersnhip when John Smith dies and wins, and wins the 1997 election. The government is almost exactly the same, with the first possible deviation being the Iraq War, but there is no evidence that Brown would not have backed the invasion of Iraq as PM. Someone else will be Chancellor of the Exchequer and then PM after Brown stands down. There may not be a big impact on UK politics since "new labour" happens anyway.

I imagined Blair has some sort of minor success in the 80s, just enough to keep him in music and away from politics.

Would Brown really be calling it “New Labour” though? And would Brown be different without Blair’s influence?
