So, there was quite a bit of use of large guns moved about by rail in OTL world wars, and there was even some ues of stationary turrets, but what if there had been more use made of custom built, either self propelled or towed, rail mounted turrets?

What I have in mind is a multi track vehicle, that basically mounts a naval turret on a custom built rail carriage or custom built rail locomotive for the heaviest of such guns, and for the smaller versions to go right down to mass deployments of mobile AAA.

The reason I want turrets is all around fire power, and built-in, protected ammo supply with reloading speeds equal (or greater than) the naval usage of these guns, and the reason I want them rail mounted is for ease of rapid deployment, re-deployment, and re-supply.

So some questions about the transport of guns by rail:
1) When could rail transported artillery guns first become an aspect of ground warfare?
2) When could rail artillery use first become so widespread, that attention would have to be paid to the national rail network ability to make use of such?
3) When could rail artillery use force a pre-war look at production of rail carriages and locomotives, as well as the effects upon the rail networks ability to sustain both the localized war efforts of such, while retaining the carrying capacity needed for all other uses be felt?

And then, some questions about purpose built, rail guns in turrets:
1) When could rail guns in turrets first make their appearance?
2) When could rail guns in turrets first make their combat debut?
3) When could rail guns in turrets first become part of large scale pre-war planning?

And finally, some questions about the size of turreted guns on rail:
1) What size of guns in rail turrets would be likely historically?
2) What size of guns in rail turrets would be most likely in WWI?
3) What size of guns in rail turrets would be most likely in WWII?
