In Michael Hodgson's book "Patricia Roc: The Goddess of the Odeons", Roc talks about her affair with Ronald Reagan whom she first met at the Brown Derby in August 1945.
Reagan had just returned from service in the Army Air Corps to find his wife, Jane Wyman, had lost interest in him. Roc claims that Reagan couldn't understand what had happened and was dangerously depressed and suffering some form of mental breakdown.
Reagan apparently said several times "Life just isn't worth living any more, I don't see the point of going on".
Reagan's infatuation with Roc lasted a number of years but what if they had never met or Reagan had killed himself in say early 1946 ?
Without him, how would Republican politics have developed from the 60s onwards and would for example George Bush Senior have become President in 1980 ?
