As far as I'm aware, probably not much earlier. 24 hours at most I guess.
As for luck, It was the Germans that had the luck at Market Garden:
First the British Ignored intelligence that indicated that the Armoured force were there, and secondly they decided that a single lane road was a good choice to send armour up on route.
Say the British accept that the armoured force are there and route a squadron of light bombers to hit the woods they're in, then worst case scenario they take a chunk out of the rebuilding armour, best case, they're unable to offer effective resistance and the bridge is taken and held.
Good luck getting Monty's head through a door afterwards...
