Best time for U.S.-Canada Anschluss?

Here is an idea I just had: IIRC in OTL Canada was upgraded from colony to a dominion after WW1. What if, for whatever reason, instead of making Canada a dominion Great Britain sells the land to U.S. to pay off war debt?

Not to honk my own horn, but what do people think of this idea? Feasable or ASB?

ASB, Britain's war debt would have to be unspeakably awful (as in much worse than OTL) for them to consider making a concession like that.

In any case it will probably completely alienate the Canadians who have steadfastly gone to bat with Britain in every single war, that isn't something you just give up.

What if Canada and the USA united after loosing WWII? Or something similar; you can have Nazi Germany (or some analogue) win WWII if the POD is far back enough.

I don't see how the United States can lose WWII so much as be deferred enough to make peace for a while, then come back with a vengeance and win completely.

See Anglo-American Nazi War.

So possible given higher debt than OTL?

Well sure. But geopolitics could be such that Canada feels compelled to unite with the USA in the immediate aftermath of the loss of WWII, even if ultimately there's a WWIII that the USA wins.

No, the loss of WWII is likely to make Canada more important rather than the other way around.

Way closer Anglo-American relations would almost be a given, but chances are Britain would keep Canada for its own purposes, things like developing and testing nuclear weapons outside of anywhere the Germans might even have a 1% chance of being able to bomb for example.
