Best Rock Band for Each Decade

I was thinking about that 7 Ages of Rock documentary today, and it got me thinking to what is the best rock band or rock artist for each decade. I thought it would be cool to see everyone elses opinions, so it brought it up here. Here's my list:

1950's: Buddy Holly and the Crickets
1960's: The Beatles
1970's: Led Zeppelin
1980's: REM
1990's: Nirvana
2000's: Foo Fighters

Here's my list

1950's: Chuck Berry
1960's: The Beatles
1970's: Led Zeppelin
1980's: U2
1990's: Nirvana (Early 90's), Foo Fighters (Late 90's)
2000's: Foo Fighters

Honorable mention goes to the Raconteurs.

Huntress

Since this is alturnative history and not chat I think Huntress was the band of the 90's. Riseing from their suberban Detroit origans, overcomeing the male dominated rock bisness, abusive boyfriends and roomers of lesbianism to become the eras top rock/metal band was truly an accomplishment. Metal Maidens was right in voteing them Band of the Decad of the 90's.

My list is:

1950s: Buddy Holly and the Crickets
1960s: The Beatles
1970s: Led Zeppelin
1980s: U2
1990s: Nirvana
2000s: Coldplay

It's kinda hard to argue with The Beatles or Led Zeppelin, and while there was lots and lots of great rock bands in the 1990s (Pearl Jam, Audioslave, Rage Against The Machine, Garbage, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Soundgarden, Green Day, Nickelback, The Offspring, Korn), Nirvana will reign as the king. There was some good stuff in the 1980s, too, but IMO U2 is the best of the bunch.

The Foo Fighters are excellent, but I think are a few that top it for the 2000s, with Coldplay on top of the list. Nine Inch Nails also sits fairly high up that list.
