Best possible SMG with 1943 technology?

However, in Korea, all versions of the carbine soon acquired a widespread reputation for jamming in extreme cold weather,[51][52][53] this being eventually traced to weak return springs and poor maintenance under the harsh conditions.

Some types of US Smokeless Powder is very effected by cold weather, especially the faster burning pistol and shotgun powders in cold weather.

Singlebase powders(IMR extruded) do much better in colder weather than Doublebase powders in flake or Ball form for keeping constant velocity.

The Soviets complained about L.L. 45Auto in Tommyguns for the same reason during WWII

I read an account from a Vietnam vet who said he shot a Viet Cong 5-6 times, the old warrior still wouldn't quit and was finally taken out with a grenade. The rifle he used was an M-14. His opinion was any weapon can fail to stop a man. It's a matter of personal determination and random chance with bullet strike.

A former brother-in-law had an America 180. You write your name on an IPSC target with it as well as placing all rounds in one burst in the A zone

--We already knew that Japan had some ugly MGs ..... but that SMG is so fugly that it counts as steam-punk!
Wow!
OTOH it does fulfill many of the OP's questions, so please tell us more??????????????
That curved magazine implies that it fires 8mm Nambu pistol ammo????????
Is that 'sticking out thingy' on the bottom of the magazine a crude mono-pod?
