I think that most probably POD is assassination of FDR. Maybe this would be very intresting consequences.

The most plausible?

Probably the assassination of FDR, seeing as it nearly happened IOTL.

This, though exploring how the Second Crusade could succeed (at taking Damascus? Or recapturing Edessa?) would be nice in the pre-1900 section of the site.

I just want to see the Crusaders successfully cross Anatolia, who would have thought that would be so friggin diificult.

The First Crusade did it, as did Barbarossa. The Komnene army used to go back and forth like a walk to the shops.

True. But that leaves the Second, the Unnumbered One (1102 was it? You've mentioned it as a good POD but I can't recall dates) and...

That's it, the others came by sea.

So that makes it 2:2 for Crusaders vs. Turks.

But what I mean is, why is it surprising that it would be difficult? The First Crusade especially got unusually lucky.

The peoples Crusade which had a reasonable armed contingent, the Crusade of 1101 which had 3 armies and the 2nd which had 2 armies, so the Turks destroyed maybe 5 or 6 armies all up.

Do tell (underlined).

And out of...well, how many do you credit the First with?

The 2nd didn't really see the French force destroyed, at least not as badly as the Germans (the infantry sure suffered, but there was a meaningful sized amount of survivors - at least comparable to Frederick's success - in the sense his army made it, him dying by river counts as a blow, if not for the Turks), so I'd only count that as one army, your mileage may vary.

I really like both the FDR & the White Victory ideas. Both seem credible, & the butterflies could be really interesting.:cool:
