Best independent California timeline?

I've been doing some searches on the forums and cannot find one timeline involving an independent California Republic that is well-done and thought out. I would think someone would have created such a timeline by now here. Does anyone else know of a timeline created here that features an independent California, preferably one created following a revolution against Mexico in the mid-1800s and that follows a republican form of government?

If anyone desires to discuss the idea, please feel free to post in this thread.

And let me just put a post-script here and say that, having spent my teenage years in California and considering myself a Californian, I believe there is something really unique about the state, the people, and the culture that makes it seem like it could be a country separate from the United States. I haven't noticed this in the other states I've lived in for more than a year: Arizona, Georgia, and North Carolina. I'd love to see someone do a really polished job on an independent California alternate history and explore what it could have been if it had been more removed from the American sphere of influence. I think it would have been a country unlike any other in the world.

California was very sparsely populated during the 1800s, I don't think it could last very long considering the huge amount of American immigration and the loyalty to the US that those immigrants had. I think the POD would have to be much earlier for California to have sufficient population to withstand American annexation.

I think that if New Spain never suffered from wars of Independence, it could settle and control California. It would probably eventually fall apart and California would be an independent highly multicultural state.

Union and Liberty, though it isn't the main focus of the TL.

Agree, U&T has the probably the best. There are only a few updates related to it. But Wilcox has somewhat solved the American immigration problem by delaying the gold rush, and worsening the situation in Mexico, thus there has been an exodus of Mexicans seeking refuge in California. Immigration from the Philippines and East Asia has also helped curved the anglo population percentage in the region down significantly. However its been suggested the problems with the Mormon and American populations begin to steadily worsen around the 1890s.

Nevertheless for having a very thin population California has been very successful developing and expanding.
