Inspired by SPJ's recent poll I decided to create one that had more than two viable options to select from.

Surviving Second Republic - the nation moderates into a conservative, slightly oligarchical, republican government that plays nice with the rest of Europe under the likes of Cavaignac. Radical republicans uprisings are an occasional problem.

Surviving Second Empire - Napoléon III doesn't blink, and intervenes in the Seven Weeks War. The empire gradually evolves into a moderately liberal constitutional union. However reactionary monarchists hate the parvenue Bonapartists and actively work to overthrow it from the inside.

Third Republic - OTL.

French Commune - the Parisian uprising is more successful, and other insurrections soon spread across the country. France becomes the first (soft) socialiste nation in the world. Only the far left supports the new regime - and the rest of Europe isn't so keen about the whole affair either.

Second Restoration; Legitimist - Henri V isn't so stubborn, and a unionist Legitimist-Orléanists monarchy takes power after the Franco-Prussian War. Not necessarily absolutist, but certainly reactionary. Has a lot of problems with republicans.

Boulangisme - Boulanger doesn't hesitate, and his coup, while nominally retaining the IIIe République, institutes a populist dictatorship. The regime's feet are made of clay though.

Restored Empire - during the Dreyfus affair Napoléon V takes the opportunity to advance his cause, and much like Napoléon III, becomes President through legal means, only to overturn the republic later and place himself on the throne. The new regime's support is built on a small sliver of the French populace though - and then there's the Germans to deal with.

Second Restoration; Orléanist - after the Dreyfus affair Déroulède's monarchist coup is successful, and Philippe VIII is placed on the throne of a conservative, yet constitutional monarchy. Republicans and socialists alike are quite upset with the turn of events.
