Ummm... no. The Philippines were specifically not a place where the US Constitution was in force. Philippinos were NOT US citizens, and didn't have the right to move to the States.

John McCain is a natural born citizen because his parents were, not because of where he was born....

I sometimes wonder what it would have been like had Teddy Roosevelt stayed in the white house and ran for like, four terms.

Worst president that ever was? William T Sherman letting himself be drafted as the republican candidate when he was clearly unsuited for the task and then when he was actually in office his actions towards the Indians were inexcusable. Although that said the man could give a good speech.

Stephen Douglas

I always saw him as one of those guys who was perpetually convinced he was the proverbial "smartest man in the room". In truth, he was far from it.

Also, the ACW was bad enough at the time it happened. Had it simmered over through a Douglas administration or two, to a time where repeating rifles and ironclad warships had become the standards, the ACW would have been even worse than it was OTL.

If Douglas had been elected, the South would not have seceded, and there would have been no Civil War during the Douglas Administration.

The southern Democrats hated Douglas almost as much as they hated the Republicans. If anyone but Breckinridge had been elected, some of the south would have attempted seccession.
