Best 20th Century Naval Battles on the North American Great Lakes?

iOTL, the last battles on the Great Lakes were two generations of Naval Ships prior to the first iron ships. In some alternate TLs the USA and Canada in the 20th Century are either at war (or are staring at each other across the Great Lakes preparing for possible war on the Lakes.

Who did those battles and the preparation for it best?

The USA has a massive advantage in industrial strength and population, even if we only account for the local theatre.

That said Ontario's shipbuilding industry was a very serious sector, producing scores of warships during the World Wars, and had room on the slips for much larger warships (up to heavy cruiser size!) than were built historically (the Lachine Canal was a hard limit on what could be transferred from the lakes to the Atlantic). So there'd likely be a bigger fight than one may expect simply looking at population and economy sizes.

That said, a naval war on the Great Lakes would be decided by the ground campaign, as possession of the Soo Locks and Welland Canal determines which assets can move where.
